August 5, 200619 yr Good to see KMac with a much better start his second time around. Although, that first start was a little deceiving considering all the unearned runs he gave up b/c of errors. And Tracey had a heckuva start too! Good for him. I think he'll be a big help as a long reliever next year. I'd also like to add that if Shelby can keep hitting the ball well, he may turn into our only other real 2B prospect after Getz. Our system is so weak at that position, though then again, whose isn't these days? Edited August 5, 200619 yr by dasox24
August 5, 200619 yr I'm interested to see how close you guys came to putting Edwards in your top 20's, his numbers have been improving as an 18 year old in rookie ball.
August 5, 200619 yr Sweeney, for once, got PWNED. 0-4 3K's. Ouch considering Garza is major league ready. Edited August 5, 200619 yr by SoxAce
August 5, 200619 yr I don't know if more than KMac made it without looking from the draft. VERY encouraging to see Kyle do well. Also, catcher Wally Rosa with another inning of scoreless relief for BHam.
August 5, 200619 yr QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:18 AM) I'm interested to see how close you guys came to putting Edwards in your top 20's, his numbers have been improving as an 18 year old in rookie ball. Well, I wasn't able to attend the discussion b/c I had my wisdom teeth pulled out that day and was pretty out of it, but I would've prefered him over a few others who were down the list that I just don't like much. I like his potential a lot, especially after he matures into his body and adds a couple of MPH to his fastball. Anyway, I wasn't there, so I can't say much. The guys have their reasons for who they picked and I respect them, especially b/c of how thin we are... Btw, I think the only player who made it from this year's draft was KMac. August 5, 200619 yr Author The only players from this draft considered were McCulloch and Omogrosso. Long might have made it had he put up numbers similar to Omogrosso's right now in Kanny. Guys like Shelby (after his recent hot streak) and Edwards have a shot to make it when we do 25 guys to start next season. The problem is that most of us making the list find it hard to give guys credit before they get out of rookie ball. Carter was the only rookie ball guy to make it and he was on the preseason list anyway.
August 5, 200619 yr QUOTE(dasox24 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:17 AM) I'd also like to add that if Shelby can keep hitting the ball well, he may turn into our only other real 2B prospect after Getz. Our system is so weak at that position, though then again, whose isn't these days? Shelby is one of the few guys from this draft who I'm really going to try and keep my eye on. I liked his power for a second baseman (.629 SLG% at Kentucky), and considering how weak the Sox are as an organization up the middle, they could really use a 'breakout' player in that area.
August 5, 200619 yr Yeah Shelby was probably the only pick I was really happy about besides Mcculloch.
