September 19, 200619 yr I disagree, I think the Sox won in spite of Ozzie in 05. It doesn't have to be an extreme, there can be exceptions and good moves, like the Game 3 of the ALDS (El Duque move, bunting the runner in from 3rd), but I think Kenny deserves more praise then Ozzie. and it should be noted that that doesn't excuse KW for this year either. The way he handled the Frank situation was a joke and an embarrasment. Made some great deals, but also some questionable ones, and going for it all now is nice, but I thought there were ways to do it without trading away the farm system, might be rough in a few years
September 19, 200619 yr QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) I disagree, I think the Sox won in spite of Ozzie in 05. Agreed completely. If not for Ozzie, the team wins at least 130 games and doesn't f*** up and lose that one damn playoff game.

I'm with you. Ozzie has been bad this year overall. But blaming him alone let's the players off the hook. They deserve as much blame as Ozzie does, maybe more. September 19, 200619 yr If Brian Anderson got 500 at bats he's probably be hitting under .200. He wasn't ready for prime time at the plate; may never be. Now if they have a designated fielder ... he can play on any team, any day.

Now if they have a designated fielder ... he can play on any team, any day. Makes zero sense considering he has gotten better with the more at-bats he gets.

Now if they have a designated fielder ... he can play on any team, any day. I'm sorry but that's laughable. For god's sake, hasn't anyone seen Brian Anderson's stats from July. July - .313/.328/.469 August - .296/.367/.437 September - .243/.263/.378 Yes he would hit under .200 alright.
September 19, 200619 yr He had a couple of O-fers early this month, and that was it for the leash. Ozzie was waiting on the "collapse" at the plate, and when Sept 1-5 happened, that was the yank of the carpet on the BA experiment. I think he's about to leave... and we're going to have a new LF and CF next year, unfortunately.
September 19, 200619 yr QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) I think he's about to leave... and we're going to have a new LF and CF next year, unfortunately. And the sad thing about that if that happens, you know he would turn into a nice ballplayer in a different organization which shouldn't be happening. Plus he'll be under that team's control quite cheaply for the next 5 seasons. For example if say Texas lose Matthews Jr. this off-season, Brian Anderson would be a very nice replacement for him.
September 19, 200619 yr Author The only two answers are not either a. ozzie gets all the blame for this season, and all the credit from last season b. the players get all the blame for this season, and all the credit from last season I'll leave it up to you to discover what the actual answer is. I realize most here were raised in the tradition of western dualism, but try to think a bit outside the box Edited September 19, 200619 yr by Hideaway Lights
