8 years? The guy is 30 and they have to re-sign Zambrano don't they?

LAWL

Hahahaha, oh I hope that's the actual number.

Hendry has always loved Soriano. What was the point signing DeRosa again? Soriano would rather play CF instead of second?

He should do well in that ballpark, but what's his motivation going to be after getting this kind of money?

thats a whole s***load of money

I hate having to face him 6 times a year, but I love this signing. Embrace another era of K's and poor defense. Maybe the Trib wasn't far off in advertising Sammy's come back.

ESPN Radio 1000 is reporting that the Cubs and Alfonso Soriano have agreed to an eight-year, $136 million contract.

Wow. I'll give Hendry credit for being aggressive.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Remember last off-season when many of us (including myself) argued that Sori wasn't worth the $10M he was going to receive? We may have been wrong for a single year, but 8?! with a 70% raise?! Nope.

Terrible signing, but the Cubs are in great position in their division now. I can't wait for Cubs fans to start planning their World Series parade.

Alot of teams could have been aggressive. I give credit to other GM's for not being f***ing crazy.

Yeah, I don't think this is just bad. This deals seems insane how bad it is.

I never said it was a good deal. The guy is 30 and he probably won't be much good in 4 years.

So Zambrano is starting 162 games then? Unless Prior manages to magically cure himself and they find thr...I can't even go on, that's too stupid a thought.

No way is Hendry done in the FA market though or in the trade market trying to improve his starting rotation.

So he's going to convince the Trib to throw him another $100 million to get Zito or Schmidt? s***, they've probably tapped out all of their reserves given to them, and they're offering Matthews or Pierre $10 million a year.

Not Zito or Schmidt, but I imagine they'll go after Lilly or Igawa.

I'm guessing its gonna be more along the likes of a Jason Marquis and Gil Meche type of pitcher.

Even better. :D

They don't need Lilly considering they have a perfectly good meatball producer in Cotts to take his place for cheaper.

$51 million to talk with a pitcher, and now 8/136 for a guy that is 31 and had outliers across the board last year (in his pay year nonetheless). What's next? No, seriously, I want to see an even dumber move than the aforementioned.
