November 28, 200619 yr Go through with the trade for Santana and Figgins for Garcia and Crede. Then trade Scott Podsednik, Brian Anderson, and Ryan Sweeney for Carl Crawford. This would answer the top of the lineup problem we had last year, put a really good center fielder out there, and make us a base stealing team. Crawford Figgins (put him in LF, couldn't be worse than Pods) J. Dye Thome Konerko Pierzynski Iguchi Fields (Leave him at 3rd) Uribe Pitchers Beuhrle Contreras McCarthy Garland E.Santana No one could stop that 1-5 punch in the lineup.

November 28, 200619 yr Ervin Santana/Brandon McCarthy, Brian Anderson, and Ryan Sweeney might not be enough to get tampa to both take on Podsednik and give us Crawford.
November 28, 200619 yr Joe Crede ALONE is worth more than Santana and Figgins. Why do we always sell our own players so short on Soxtalk??

I believe that its more of we over value our own talent pool than anything on here. Joe Crede is due for a record payday that will make the Konerko deal seem like pennies on the dollar. Remember who his agent is. So the just sit by and let the clock tick isnt going to work. So you either trade him now when his value is the highest, or we stand pat and then pick up a draft pick in a few years. If you are going to lose him, you might as well get something good for him. Santana has pitched in the majors, unlike a lot of the prospects that have been bantered about here. He has a hell of a live arm, and some great upside. He is the type of arm just about every team in the majors would want on there team. And yet people on here think that Freddy and his 86mph fastball, and one more year on his contract are worth more than Santana and Figgins by himself. Somewhere in the middle of our overvaluing of or prospects and talent, and where the Angels fans overvalue their prospects and talent, lies the truth.
November 28, 200619 yr I didnt I should have made a new thread, but what about if the LAA trade happens, Vazquez and Prospects for Manny??? Manny makes $14 mil in 2007. Is this realistic? I understand that the defense will not be as good, and that might be an understatment. But the 2-7 of Guch, Thome, Manny, Paulie, Dye and AJ would be unstopable. Thoughts?!!? Should I put the Xbox controller down now?
November 28, 200619 yr what happened to keeping the heart of a team? like our 2005 team? we're turning into the yankees with buying for these astronomical numbers guys....why would we want Manny and his pissy attitude? and by "we" i mean those at soxtalk to propose these silly ideas.

November 28, 200619 yr Then trade Scott Podsednik, Brian Anderson, and Ryan Sweeney for Carl Crawford. No way the D-Rays would do that. It's not enough value for Crawford, plus the D-Rays already have a logjam in the outfield as it is. They probably would demand a package centering around McCarthy. Joe Crede ALONE is worth more than Santana and Figgins Maaaaybe, maybe if Crede was signed long term to a reasonable deal. I'm looking at a Grady Sizemore type deal, but considering he's about to become a rich, rich man thanks in part to Boras, he definitely isn't worth more than Santana and Figgons.
November 28, 200619 yr Why would the Devil Rays want 3 outfielders???? None of which have proven they can hit big league pitching.
November 28, 200619 yr QUOTE(VAfan @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Joe Crede ALONE is worth more than Santana and Figgins. Why do we always sell our own players so short on Soxtalk?? I tend to think Soxtalk overvalues guys who can't draw a walk to save their lives even during a "career" year.

Ervin Santana is oen of the better looking young pitchers in baseball. Freddy is coming off a down year/mediocre year. Hes an innings eater, but who isnt on the white sox? We have alot of those, we need more impact pitchers, like possible future-cy young ervin santana.

November 29, 200619 yr Am I alone in wondering why Crawford BEFORE Figgins in this proposed lineup? Edited November 29, 200619 yr by TheBigHurt
