I think they could be a dark horse this year in that lackluster NL Central aslong as they stay healthy. They have a lot of young talent in Hall, Weeks, Fielder, and Hardy along with guys like Clark and Jenkins. The pitching is probably the biggest concern.

Their rotation looks fair enough.

Might even be the best in that division, if it stays healthy.

Like I said in the Game Thread today, they corner the market on young, studly, black position players.

Now Ben Sheets needs to keep his ass off the DL, if he can do that they're pretty much set.

I started paying attention to them in 2005, partially because Carlos Lee was traded there, and I miss playing them since they're not in the American League anymore. But I also love watching them play, or at least listening to them play through XM Radio.

They've had several players popping off about playing time lately. Jenkins, Menche. Thats a sign of disrespect for the Manager (or at least they're not afraid of him) and a bad omen for a baseball team.

Jenkins is lucky to have a starting job still.

 

He needs to stick to QBing the Packers.

I agree. If he's healthy that's a solid anchor to that rotation, although that's a huge "if" at this point

I think the Brewers will contend for a playoff spot in the NL, but won't go much further than that.

They probably have the best rotation in that division, but a lot of concern is still placed on that offense.

 

The potential is there though. Weeks, Fielder, and Braun (who should be up at some point next season), all have the ability to produce at above average rates a their respective positions.

 

Hall should regress a bit, but should still be a damn good centerfielder.

 

I'd keep an eye out for Corey Hart too. .280/.360/.500 isn't out of the question for him.

 

They have a DEEP bench too. Gabe Gross, Brady Clark, Koskie/Bell (if Braun gets called up), Mench could form the N.L.'s deepest bench.

 

Sheets is a huge wildcard here. I think he's the best pitcher in that division (better than Carp, Zambrano, Oswalt, etc.) if he makes 30+ starts.

 

Bullpen concerns me a bit, but you have to love the upside. If Turnbow bounces back he could from a nasty 1-2 punch with Francisco Cordero at the back end of that pen.

Well, DUH. The Miller Brewery is pretty much right across the highway! I'm surprised they even carry cans, they should all just be tethered to hoses that begin at Miller!

Oh yeah, the Brewers vending employees are much better people than the ones working at Comiskey. Fast, pleasant, and not lazy like many in Chicago.

They without question have the best talent in that division IMO, question is whether they can stay healthy and whether THEY are aware they have the best talent in that division. I love the Brew Crew though, I have a friend that lives not even a mile from the ballpark and we have a good time at the games, great park.

Not a bad seat in the house too, Ive sat i many spots and have liked the view of the field from each spot.

 

They should be a fun team to watch, really young and lots of talent.

They actually use the bottles, and if you are nice enough some of the guys will keep the cap on it so you can stock up.

Great food, cheap, nice park with good sight lines, High Life on tap. I love Miller Park. Went there to see a Brewers/Twins game a few years ago. Saw Scott Podsednik hit a triple, which due to Lew Ford's throwing error was an inside-the-park home run.
