April 16, 200718 yr G Tech and Indiana I like that matchup. Should be a fun one to watch. Looks like ACC has some more favorable matchups yet again though.

April 16, 200718 yr The ACC always gets better matchups. Granted they're usually a better conference, maybe if the Big Ten would put on an impressive performance sometime that might happen, but probably not.
April 16, 200718 yr Ahh, i like the home game against Minnesota. I think we're going to be pretty bad next year.
April 16, 200718 yr Out of curiosity, what do some you guys think would have been the most fair matchups?
April 16, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) Out of curiosity, what do some you guys think would have been the most fair matchups? Why can't they just do this by how they finished in conference last year? (ex. 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc.)
April 16, 200718 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 05:15 PM) Why can't they just do this by how they finished in conference last year? (ex. 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc.) Not sure, but that wouldn't be the most fair way anyways when factoring players who graduate and incoming recruiting classes.
April 16, 200718 yr QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Not sure, but that wouldn't be the most fair way anyways when factoring players who graduate and incoming recruiting classes. Exactly. But with all the good coaches coming to the big ten they might be able to get some better recruitng classes and possibly give the ACC a fight.
April 16, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) maryland again? We played Duke two years in a row too. It's nice having a big game like that on the schedule; however, this thing can still be scheduled better.
April 16, 200718 yr I agree. I have never been a big fan of the matchups. But the bottom line is they are set as much for interest level and TV ratings as anything else.
April 17, 200718 yr QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) maryland again? We did it with UNC as well recently.
April 17, 200718 yr QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) Out of curiosity, what do some you guys think would have been the most fair matchups? Well, for starters, stop giving Duke home guys. Haven't they stayed in NC 8 of the 9 years of the event?
April 17, 200718 yr What a shock Duke at home again and Illinois playing on road and at Maryland again!
April 17, 200718 yr QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) Well, for starters, stop giving Duke home guys. Haven't they stayed in NC 8 of the 9 years of the event? 2 seasons ago they were at IU. I'm not sure if they have played away any other time. Only 1 game in the schedule is really nationally appealing, UNC/OSU. Duke vs. IU should be a must each year, IMO.
April 17, 200718 yr QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:46 AM) 2 seasons ago they were at IU. I'm not sure if they have played away any other time. they played Illinois at the United Center in one of the first years I believe
April 17, 200718 yr QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:48 AM) Duke vs. IU should be a must each year, IMO. Why? So Duke can slaughter them every year? I don't see why the perennially 3rd-5th best team in the Big Ten should match up against one of the top two programs in the ACC.
April 17, 200718 yr im glad wisconsin is getting a shot at Duke. Even though its an away game they should have a pretty good shot. Its hard to tell how the loss of Tucker and Taylor will impact the team, but if other guys step up the team should be more talented overall. It just wont have the 1 guy who was most relied upon to score.
April 17, 200718 yr I'll throw this in here since there is no bball thread, and most big ten fans will see it here: Per Tupper's blog: "Three, the Big Ten Conference hasn’t announced it yet, but the league will be going to an 18-game men’s basketball schedule (expanding from 16 games). That means each school will have only one opponent it plays once at home, and only one opponent it plays once on the road. That’s nearly a full round robin. The question: When does Big Ten play begin, in late December or in January as it does now? If it starts in January, it likely means the end of the “bye” week. It also means two less non-conference games."

Also Glad to see the bye weeks over with.

April 18, 200718 yr QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:48 AM) they played Illinois at the United Center in one of the first years I believe That is correct. I sat in the nosebleeds for that one, Frank Williams missed a 3 at the buzzer and they lost by 3.
