August 30, 201015 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) He really needs to go to a bigger camp to prepare for fights. He has too many yes men around him. I dont think his ego would let him do that.
August 31, 201015 yr QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) I dont think his ego would let him do that. the likely reason since he probably would have done it already... the biggest thing he did was bring in/go to Marv Marenovich (sp?) for conditioning, that has paid off in the past but wasn't enough. I watched the fight with friends who are pro MMA fighters and trainers, the guy who specializes in stand-up said he thought Edgar was too fast/too much movement on his feet and it really stymies BJ. December 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) Bellator Announces Major Tv Deal. http://mmajunkie.com/news/21608/exclusive-...-tv-in-2011.mma good to hear, they produce a quality product. They might get stronger too considering FEG is having all sorts of money problems and the future of DREAM is kind of shaky. This could hurt SF some, they don't have a regular outlet on basic cable and CBS still hasn't committed to another show.
December 5, 201015 yr Anyone watch Strikeforce last night? Man, what a show. Hendo dropping bombs,Daley and Lawler knocking out their opponents. Great action. And I think it's time for Lindland to retire. He cant be getting KOed that badly at his age on a yearly basis.

December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) atleast it was entertaining though, unlike the s***fest TUF Finale. yeah, it was entertaining, but on TUF finale the Phan/Garcia match was good and the finale had its moments, but SF was a major show for them, they really need to start matching guys up better. I really hope SF's ratings were good or at least were steady against UFC... With CBS continuing to have cold feet, I'm don't want Showtime to get screwy with them... SEG is having money problems meaning DREAM guys may be looking for work, SF can beef a roster up quickly. Edited December 7, 201015 yr by SoxFan562004
December 7, 201015 yr Ratings are in via Meltzer, UFC did 1.4 SF a 1.2, but with the huge difference between Spike and Showtime for number of homes, UFC did about 2m viewers and SF did about 340k... the 340k is about in the middle between the SF Challenger cards and the SF cards with bigger names on it.
December 12, 201015 yr Haven't visited this thread in a while. I got around to watching UFC 124 and well.. I actually felt bad for Koscheck. GSP, class act.
December 14, 201015 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) Take it back. This is official. http://www.bellator.com/ViewArticle.dbml?D...TCLID=205054922 yeah, saw this earlier too... still good news since it's a consistent outlet, but MTV/Viacom can get real shaky about things and not get behind things for the long-term, especially since uppermanagement changes there somewhat often... FX deal would have been better, but this is still obviously good. Interesting that SF still has some form of deal with CBS which, if everything is still the same, is under the same Viacom umbrella as MTV networks, maybe makes for cross-promoted fights.
December 14, 201015 yr I actually tweeted Josh Gross about the Viacom/MTV thing, he's ESPN's MMA reporter, and he pointed out Spike is also Viacom, so these are stand alone deals for the companies, likely won't have any effect on co-promotion with Bellator/SF
December 14, 201015 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) The cross promotion stuff isn't happening anytime soon. Trust me. Yeah I agree, I never thought it really would, just too much for each promotion to lose
December 17, 201015 yr If you haven't seen it, go out of your way to catch a replay of the WEC show, the overall card was decent, but the main event is a FOTY candidate and in the 5th round Pettis pulls off one of, if not the, most entertaining moves pulled in an MMA match. December 24, 201015 yr and Overeem is fighting Todd Duffee on New Years Eve in Japan for Dream. Yes, that Todd Duffee. Just points out a major problem for me with SF, their HW champ, who has fought for them 1 time since 11/07, is fighting a name that he will 99.9% likely crush and is recognizable to some casual fans due to his UFC run in Japan on NYE for a different org. Also, Nick Diaz vs. Cyborg Santos (the husband, not the wife) to main event the 1/29 card, not Diaz vs. Mayhem which many people want to see.
January 1, 201115 yr Anyone see the Sakuraba highlights from the last DREAM event? His ear cauliflower ear was partially detached from his head and the fight was stopped minutes in and he was rushed to the hospital. Everything will be ok but he wants to fight again. The guy is my favorite fighter ever and is no doubt a legend but this saddens me. He needs to retire before something serious happens. Him fighting up roided fighters that were way out of his weight class has already but way too many miles on his body.
January 2, 201115 yr On the first day of 2011, the Fight of the Year has already taken place. I'll wait to see if others watched before commenting anymore.

Agreed 100%. To be polite I'll put the rest of this in spoilers. I scored it 48-46 Edgar. But totally saw it going either way, including a draw. Gray's 1st round was so dominant. GREAT GREAT fight. Can't wait until a torrent pops up so I can re-watch it. Overall, a pretty good card.

Yeah, Saku needs to retire, but Meltzer had an article up on yahoo about a week or two ago discussing how bad Japanese MMA is struggling right now and they flat out needs draws for TV purposes. It hurt them a lot that Kid Yamamoto signed with the UFC and didn't fight on the Dynamite card. Main event was very good tonight, How Edgar made it 5 rounds after that first round beating is beyond me. I agreed with the decision. Also, Pettis will be getting the next fight, there is n o immediate rematch. Overall entertaining card. Edited January 2, 201115 yr by SoxFan562004
January 2, 201115 yr I actually scored it 47-46 for Maynard. I thought the first round was deserving of a 10-7 but I know that MMA judges barely give 10-8 rounds so 47-47 was fair. I think Maynard should have went for the easy takedown after rocking Frankie. He probably could have easily transition to mount and ended the fight moments later. Hindsight of course is 20/20. I think BJ should move back to 155. 170 is already good and a division of Edgar,Maynard and Penn would be pretty exciting. I really dont see any other 155 out there that could push those 3 right now.

They divide it up into 2 parts and there is no downloading needed. basically like watching a 90 minute youtube stream.
January 2, 201115 yr at some point last night UFC decided it will be Maynard/Edgar II before Pettis gets his shot, it was a quick flip-flop and Maynard had already left the building by the time the decision was made.... also, Maynard and Edgar both got their win bonuses.

That was a smart decision. You have to give an immediate rematch after that fight.
January 12, 201115 yr I might actually tune in just for Lesnar. But there isnt no drama between the coaches which sucks. Should have asked Mir to be the other coach against Lesnar.
January 12, 201115 yr also, JDS asked for this. Sounds like UFC gave him the option to sit and wait for Cain, he wanted a fight so they gave him TUF and the Lesnar fight.
