June 8, 200718 yr Detroit takes Crosby. That is 2 arms that should have been drafted by the Sox that Detroit got. This f***ing pisses me off.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:47 PM) Good for them....drafting like they want to win. Porcello and Crosby. Phew.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) casey crosby just taken by detroit please go to Illinois, although I have a feeling Detroit will offer up some serious cash for him.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) http://media.www.thenortherner.com/media/s...s-2783086.shtml Stinking Andrew Carignon goes right after. already taking the buehrle approach. apparently wants to play for the Reds... goddamnit kenny! ps i just dont feel like putting it in green
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) casey crosby just taken by detroit A guy I have actually seen! (Sorry everybody, I can actually comment on him). All I can say is Jones and Poreda better be good or we got pantsed twice by Detroit in a matter of 5 rounds. Edited June 8, 200718 yr by whitesoxfan101
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) 5.87 ERA as a soph? Must be some amazing competition. But he has good stuff...
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Good point. Milwakee is also taking the same approach. They took LaPorta in the first round, right? Hmm...I already powered off my sarcasm detector for the night...I can't tell...
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) 5.87 ERA as a soph? Must be some amazing competition. Adam Russell had an ERA of 6 plus in the MAC.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) 5.87 ERA as a soph? Must be some amazing competition. Or they keep score differently. Obviously they see some major potential in this guy, because his stats are not very sexy. The other possibility is that he is related to somebody in the organization.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) Adam Russell had an ERA of 6 plus in the MAC. And Danny Wright was like 1-18 in his career at Arkansas.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nathan jones... whozat? A horrible wrestler who was in the movie "Troy."
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) Or they keep score differently. Obviously they see some major potential in this guy, because his stats are not very sexy. The other possibility is that he is related to somebody in the organization. that kinda thing is hopefully only reserved for mike piazza picks
June 8, 200718 yr Guys, ERA is such an overrated stat to look at when drafting baseball players. We should all know that.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) please go to Illinois, although I have a feeling Detroit will offer up some serious cash for him. I can tell you with 110 percent certainty he will sign with Detroit. I'd like to see him go to Illinois too, but I have a pretty good source that says he won't
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) And Danny Wright was like 1-18 in his career at Arkansas. He prolly was the most frustrating pitcher to watch in a Sox uni IMO. He threw so many balls and I was yelling at the TV screen everytime he pitched.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) 5.87 ERA as a soph? Must be some amazing competition. 2.88 this year. Lot of walks, though.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) Detroit takes Crosby. That is 2 arms that should have been drafted by the Sox that Detroit got. This f***ing pisses me off. I said it earlier and I'll repeat it. This is why Detroit will be competing for the pennant while we will be around .500 the next few years.
June 8, 200718 yr He had a 2.88 ERA his junior year. 60 Ks and only 38 hits in 56.1 IP, but 37 walks. If you can teach control...
June 8, 200718 yr Crosby would have the 2nd best 4 seamer in our MLB rotation if we put him in there tomorrow.
June 8, 200718 yr analysts at the draft saying that poreda could be every bit as good as the guys to go at the top of the round.
June 8, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) I said it earlier and I'll repeat it. This is why Detroit will be competing for the pennant while we will be around .500 the next few years. Even when they're not receiving top 10 picks for terrible seasons they're still finding a way to draft top talent. Drafting five straight pitchers suggests to me people within the organization know we're going to be in HUUUGGGEE trouble unless quality pitchers emerge that can compete with those within the division.
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> analysts at the draft saying that poreda could be every bit as good as the guys to go at the top of the round. I doubt they know as much as our Soxtalkers who only follow the game from stat sheets and radar gun readings. Edited June 8, 200718 yr by santo=dorf
June 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I doubt they know as much as our Soxtalkers who only follow the game from stat sheets and radar gun readings. I'm following the fact he has 1 pitch and a low strikeout rate. Doesn't sound like a 1st rounder.
June 8, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) analysts at the draft saying that poreda could be every bit as good as the guys to go at the top of the round. Sure he could, if he develops plus offspeed pitchers. Any pitcher has the potential to match Price if they do this, or that, but as it ism few have everything put together as he does.
