June 15, 200718 yr I didn't see this posted yet, but if it was, feel free to delete/merge this thread. MacDougal was recalled from AAA and Prinz DFA'ed. I heard it on 670 the score. Also, appearently Prinz couldn't get ready for the game on Wednesday and I guess that didn't go over to well with Ozzie.
June 15, 200718 yr Good, I'd much rather have MacDougal working through his problems at the major league level than at Charlotte. Hopefully he can finish up the year strong and solidify himself a spot in the '08 pen. Prinz was absolute garbage.
June 15, 200718 yr Author Just in case for any people who don't believe me and need a link... http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/playernews.aspx?sport=MLB White Sox recalled RHP Mike MacDougal from Triple-A Charlotte. Four scoreless innings in the minors was all it took for the White Sox to give MacDougal another chance. He could quickly return to a setup role if he's successful.
June 15, 200718 yr You knew this would happen-it was a "message' thing probably that had "lightning in the bottle" possibilities that never happened. Put the major league arms back on the team.
June 15, 200718 yr Who would have guessed that the first player to be DFA'd this year would be Bret f***ing Prinz?
June 15, 200718 yr Is Aardsma coming up soon too? I mean, I liked what I saw from him early on in the year, how is he doing in AAA?
June 15, 200718 yr QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Is Aardsma coming up soon too? I mean, I liked what I saw from him early on in the year, how is he doing in AAA? Out of 23 batters faced he's only walked 2.
June 15, 200718 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Out of 23 batters faced he's only walked 2. It must be a lot more difficult to walk batters in the minors.
June 15, 200718 yr QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) Tallest midget, etc. Yep, guess the grass wasn't greener on the other side. I'm still surprised that he took such a dive from '06 to '07. Hopefully he's figured it out.

Put the major league arms back on the team. I too believe it was a "message" being sent. Hopefully Mac and Aardsma got it. It sure doesn't look like Sisco has
June 16, 200718 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am surprised it took them this long... You must not be aware of the option rule that a player is required to spend at least 10 days in the minors before coming back. MacDougal spent 11 days, and Aardsma spent 12.
June 16, 200718 yr QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) I too believe it was a "message" being sent. Hopefully Mac and Aardsma got it. It sure doesn't look like Sisco has I have been out of the net. How has Sisco been doing?
June 17, 200718 yr MacDougal was recalled 11 days after he had been demoted because of his 7.13 ERA in 27 relief appearances, mostly in a setup role. MacDougal arrived three hours before the game wearing a Charlotte Knights polo shirt. At the suggestion of Charlotte pitching coach Juan Nieves, MacDougal said he picked up his tempo and tried to keep his head up and toward the target to calm his violent delivery. "Maybe a little change was good," said MacDougal, who acknowledged he was somewhat shocked by the demotion.
June 17, 200718 yr I think we need to just realize that our bullpen is just not good. And that it might not get better until later on in the season.
June 18, 200718 yr QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) I think we need to just realize that our bullpen is just not good. And that it might not get better until later on in the season. We all realize it. I'd still rather have Mac up here than Prinz.
June 18, 200718 yr Based on the numbers he had for us last season in around 25 games, has there honestly been a bigger disappointment in numbers than Mike MacDougal this season? You could make a good argument and say no to be frank.
June 18, 200718 yr QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Based on the numbers he had for us last season in around 25 games, has there honestly been a bigger disappointment in numbers than Mike MacDougal this season? You could make a good argument and say no to be frank. No pitcher certainly, although Konerko and Dye have been very disappointing as well. Mac pitched well in 2005, too, and in fact has never pitched as badly as he has this season. It was a big blow to the bullpen. But, there's no point in keeping him at AAA. His past numbers suggest he has more potential to turn things around than someone like Prinz. They might as well have Mac pitche in the bigs.
