THERE GOES MY 3 GAME WINNING STREAK WITH GAMETHREADS :crying

I'm weary of watching Podsednik's miscues in LF. Just bring up Sweeney and stick him out there for the rest of the season.

By the start of August, it's eval time. Time to let Sweeney play. Bring up guys from the minors that we want to look at. Trade Pods or just designate him. If Anderson is healthy, bring him up.

They need to DFA Erstad and Pods and bring up Sweeney and let him play LF from here on in....

Man, Javy shoulda won this game to. Shame that he walks away with a L.

On the sunny side, at least Prancer didnt head it into the bullpen. He must forget that the large leather thing on his non throwing hand is to catch the ball with.

We need to get Hu or Escobar and replace Uribe. Then call up Sweeney and put him into LF. Trade Pods to someone who needs a 5th OF, pinch runner.

I doubt Escobar is going anywhere as the Braves were willing to trade Renteria just to make room for Escobar. Hu on the other hand might be and I would love to get him here.

I was at the game today, and I'll be honest and say I thought there was a 50% chance that Konerko was traded or that something was close. My seats were reasonably far away from the Sox dugout and I couldn't see Konerko and he obviously wasn't in the lineup. I was expecting to see at some point in the game on the scoreboard, "The Sox have sent Paul Konerko to Anahiem for Casey Kotchman, Brandon Wood and Joe Saunders."

It is a bit fishy. I guess they just didn't want to keep Konerko on the bench three straight days perhaps.

Or, Kenny Williams is show casing Mackowiak at 1B for teams interested in him...

They were actually talking about Pauly getting today off on Friday when he had that day off as well. Agreed that Mackowiak may be being showcased a bit.

Boy that was a bad lineup the Sox trotted out there today.

That was a guaranteed Blue Jay win.

From the "Youngsters bring new energy" article.

Taking a breather: Konerko was out of the lineup on Sunday for the second time in three days. The White Sox first baseman had played in 101 of the South Sider's 104 games before his off-day on Sunday.

Konerko asked Guillen for a few days off before Friday's game. The White Sox skipper held Konerko out of the lineup on Friday, but put him back in the starting nine on Saturday to face Roy Halladay.

"Most managers like to give their big boys the day off when the big guy is pitching [for the opposition]" Guillen said on Saturday. "I'm the opposite. The big guys should be hitting against the stars; let them compete against each other."

The off-day on Sunday will allow Konerko to rest for two consecutive days, with Monday an off-day for the White Sox.

Thats funny, I said the same thing around the 5th. Not only was Kong out of the lineup, but I made sure to look for him in the dugout, and didn't see him once, and I also thought he might hit for Mack in the 8th. Rongey said it was a planned day off, but a Friday AND Sunday off? Little interesting...

Ozzie said it on Friday and Rongey reported it on his pre-game show then as well.

I agree with bringing Sweeney up--what are we waiting for? That dropped ball by Pods was a game-killer. How do you miss one like that?

Fields has done a nice job of filling in for Crede; I think it's time we let Sweeney show his stuff too.

AMEN to that!

Misplayed two balls this weekend!

Should have had the Thomas high fly Friday night he played into a double and the error yesterday - he may be the worst left fielder in baseball!!!!!! Makes Carlos Lee look like a gold glove outfielder!

I seem to rarely agree with fielding assessments here. I agree that Podsednik has turned into a butcher in LF. His first three seasons, he was actually somewhat above average, and I think the stats will bear me out. I don't know what happened to him, now too many catchable fly balls are an adventure. Carlos Lee actually fielded very well for the Sox in 02 and 04. All the other years have been sub par, which leads me to believe for Lee it's lack of concentration as much as anything.

It is tough to concentrate on fielding when you are always thinking about your next at bat.
