Basically we traded Chris Harris for Darwin Walker. I'll take it.

nice break down. s*** wow

Wow. I saw him at the gym alot during the off season. Oh well, thanks for letting Reggie Wayne run right past you in the Super Bowl.

Chris Harris for Darwin Walker AND we moved up in the 5th most likely.

I think I might buy a JA jersey

i actually am not sure how i feel about this move...my biggest concerns for this D are at safety....lets face it, mike brown is injury prone, so depth is important....in addition archuleta was horrible in washington....yes it wasnt the same system, and archuleta is supposedly much better in cover 2, but he was getting beat in washington with his coverage skills, and im not sure i trust that he will be able to cover half the deep field as well as he did a few years ago in st. louis.....after that manning is solid, and i assume the bears must think highly enough of brandon mcgowan and rookie kevin payne to let harris go....those guy i suppose could be better ballplayers than harris....im not saying chris harris was a great player, but this was a guy who started 20 games in just 2 seasons in teh NFL and that experience is somewhat valuable....

oh well...it probably won't matter too much, but if brown gets injured and archuleta stinks again we could be in trouble

lovie smith was talking up Kevin Payne alot, and they also have Brandon McGowan and Daniealle Manning, so they were 6 deep at the safety position. From what I have read and heard about Payne is that he is very similar to harris(big hitter), but has some better coverage skills.

Even though its been limited playing time I really liked what i saw from McGowan when he was out there and im assuming the bears are still very high on Daniel Manning so while I liked Chris Harris not a bad deal at all.

I liked Chris Harris...sorry to see him go but Adam Arch. is here, 2 stud hard-hitting safeties

I might be thinking about the wrong play.... but, I think that was Daniel Manning.

Chris Harris has a giant bumpy forehead, which lead me to call him Frankenstein.... thats about all i got.

Harris was a good player, but nothing that isnt replaceable.

Agreed. And it's Danieal Manning.

Thats really the beauty of the cover-2. We arent totally f***ed until Urlacher leaves.

Cover-2 is f***ed the minute Urlacher slows down.

I hope they can draft well.

I figured they would draft and start grooming his replacement in the next 3 years sometime.

Or until the other team can gash the middle of our d-line.

Both Urlacher and Harris are essential. Maybe Walker will be a sufficient backup -- hopefully we won't have to find out.

Panthers announce that safety Mike Minter is retiring.

They no doubt asked him to hold off announcing this as it would of severly affected their leverage in negotiations with the Bears. The Bears should of gotten at least a 4th round pick.

Haha, who in their right mind would give up a 4th for Chris Harris?

A team like Carolina, who minus Mike Minter and Chris Harris would of been SOL at the safety position.

They are SOL even with Chris Harris.

jinxed

Chris Harris is far from a great safety but he did have experience in our defense. McGowan is garbage and Daniel Manning is showing why we shouldn't have taken him in the 2nd round.

jinxed

You don't think that most people thought this way as well?

Harris sucks and would have been just as good as McGowan or any other backup DB that the Bears have thrown out there this season.

never said nobody else thought that way...but looking through that thread most people liked the trade...and i disagree...harris never looked half as bad as mcgowan did today overpursuing just about every play to his right
