Funny you ask, I am all over the place.

 

I have vast experience in sales and marketing in the Sports, Entertainment and Hospitality industries. My most previous experience was a Project Manager role which involved me establishing and maintaining client/vendor rapport.

 

I guess my ideal job subjects would be:

Account Management

Sponsorship representative

Client Relationship

Outside Sales involving a territory.

 

I also would love the ability to travel as part of my job while I am still young, though it is not imperative.

I guess I am just bummed that I am searching for job 7 months before my wedding. I will now go back to my one person pity party

Its been my experience that you increase your exposure, interviews and chances at jobs dramatically if you find a good recruiter or two in your field(s). They will be able to get you to the top of the stack at a lot of companies, if they are good. Trying to apply to places blind (without a connection or recruiter or internal recommendation) is very tough.

I'm with Jimbo. Been looking for a change and applying everywhere but can't get a sniff. Frustrating.

I have my first interview with a non-ponzi scheme company since July.

Im a General Contractor and I can tell you that you wouldnt think the economy is that bad if you saw how many people and businesses are having work done.

 

Not so much luck for the real estate investing side of it right now though...

In a few months I'll be doing some job searching. My major is Public Administration, eventually I want to be a City Administrator, but I almost think it'd be better if I work under someone for a while, then branch off to a small town and work my way up, who knows though.

Coming right out of college I was looking for a job from May 2007 to January 08 with a degree that would get me no where specific, but I finally found a position in January. The key is looking for jobs that aren't listed on sites like careerbuilder, craigslist, etc. Those site will get you no where, which I'm sure you've seen by now. You need to look up random companies and either go to their website or make cold calls asking them if they have open positions. Its frustrating but something will come. Keep your head up!

Eh, I found my current job through career builder and had several other interviews through them.

 

You might want to check in with your university to see if you can still use their career center.

Career builder and Monster can give you great access to recruiters as well as a very limited amount of quality jobs, I actually got my second job out of college off of monster and I stayed there 5 years. My latest job and the best paying ive ever had I got off of Linkedin. Its a great network for people to see who you are, if you have references and where you've been. My company's recruiters use it alot.

The problem for most lawyer positions is that they always want 1-2 years experience minimum as an attorney (not law clerk). Its hard to get those first years of experience because not many places want brand new attorneys. I got my job from where I clerked, but thats not an option for everyone.

I think in general that this is correct. IMO, those large sites are ok, but the best way to get your foot in the door is to go directly to the companies (if you don't know someone). Check out their web sites and you may even be able to apply online. I went through Monster, etc for months. Then, I started looking up local companies, applied online to a couple and had three interviews within a couple of weeks.

The job is 3 pay grade higher than mine so I would assume somewhere around $85-105k salary with an end of the year bonus around 16-20%. Just a guess.
