June 9, 200817 yr one of the all time greats...he deserves it...its scary to think of this guys numbers if he didnt have all the injuries♠
June 10, 200817 yr To me, he's the greatest player in the history of the game. He doesn't have the best numbers, but in his prime he was what you would build if you were building a baseball player. 600 Homers and he's only played in about 75% of the possible games he could have played in during his career due to injuries.
June 10, 200817 yr Best baseball player I've ever seen. Congrats to him, I hope one day he can get a ring, although it'd likely be as a DH for an AL team if it happens. Edited June 10, 200817 yr by whitesoxfan101
June 10, 200817 yr yeah i actually get pissed when i think about what could have been. He was my favorite player growing up, I read a lot of biographies on him haha .. but seeing those injuries all the time in Cincin i just wish we could have seen what he would have been healthy. Damn.

June 10, 200817 yr Baseball would be so far better off having Griff hold the all time HR record it makes me sick to think about it.Bonds pisses me off even after he has disappeared.
June 10, 200817 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) Sweetest swing I've ever seen. ^^^ Too bad he couldn't stay a little healthier.
June 10, 200817 yr The same can be said about Frank Thomas. You give these two players healthy and un-strike-interrupted careers, and there stats would be legendary.
June 11, 200817 yr QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) The same can be said about Frank Thomas. You give these two players healthy and un-strike-interrupted careers, and there stats would be legendary. It's not a great comparison because Griffey was such a better defensive player at a much more important position, plus could steal bases. Then again, Frank's walk/power game was always better than Junior's. Hard to compare to two.
June 11, 200817 yr He wasn't comparing them. All he said was that both would've put up even more ridiculous offensive numbers than they have had both remained healthy.
