December 29, 200817 yr Last place in their division. 3rd worst offense in the NHL. 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. But I'm sure they're not that bad.
December 29, 200817 yr Wow. That must mean your team REALLY sucks Mikko, because you just got soundly walloped in every single facet of the game.
December 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) NINE! Amazing that no Hawks team had ever done that before. This is pretty sweet. They haven't even needed the shootout to pull off these victories. I wouldn't change anything right now.
December 29, 200817 yr FYI, there are getting to be some Winter Classic tickets around for less than face value if people are still wanting to go to the game...

December 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) And where would one find these? Craigslist and Stubhub if you are quick, but I have also heard some tickets getting offered around the office and mutal friends. The best deal I have heard so far was $300 for two of the middle tier of seats.
December 29, 200817 yr There will be a ton available the night before and day of as well. If you REALLY want to go, go scalp.
December 30, 200817 yr They really should've made this game at Soldier Field. Cooler conditions and way better sightlines for such an event. Everyone, even the people in the "close" seats will have a terrible view.
December 30, 200817 yr QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) They really should've made this game at Soldier Field. Cooler conditions and way better sightlines for such an event. Everyone, even the people in the "close" seats will have a terrible view. I have been saying that ever since they started talking about Wrigley as the locale for this game. Not to mention 25,000 more people could have gone to the game. Wrigley was just a dumb idea.
December 30, 200817 yr The Wrigley decision was not made with the fans in attendance in mind. Like it or not, Wrigley Field is an iconic location, and more casual fans or non-fans will tune in for a hockey game at Wrigley than they would for a hockey game at USCF or Soldier. That was the main consideration.
December 30, 200817 yr The Winter Classic is a total made-for-TV event. Any doubt as to that went out the window when they announced the rink configuration with the goals at first and third, so that NBC could shoot the iconic Wrigley scoreboard over center ice. If they had cared about the paying customers even getting to see the puck, they would have put the goals near left field and the visitors' on-deck circle, where the Bears used to have their endzones. Then at least fans along the third base line could have followed some of the game.
December 30, 200817 yr Author Right now for Thursday according to weather.com- 37 with snow showers. 37>32 32=freezing 37+ice=melt? 37+cold ground=fog I honestly wanted to sell these from the start but never got around to it. I wanted to watch it on my TV (inbetween periods watch Georgia/MSU) and then watch USC obliterate Penn State. Hopefully by the time I get home the USC game is still going on. December 31, 200817 yr Kane got crushed by Cleary and hobbled off the ice very slowly. Hope it's not as bad as it looked.
December 31, 200817 yr QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) Kane got crushed by Cleary and hobbled off the ice very slowly. Hope it's not as bad as it looked. Now into the locker room. s***. Cleary (sp?) has got a bounty out for him now.
December 31, 200817 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Now into the locker room. s***. Cleary (sp?) has got a bounty out for him now. It was a clean hit. Kane's leg got caught under him and twisted in a very bad position. A bounty on Cleary would be unfair to him and a cheap move IMO.
December 31, 200817 yr Holmstrom does his normal planting in front of Khabi and Datsyuk tucks one into the corner of the net. PPG, 1-0 Wings. Good move to hook someone in your offensive zone, Byfuglien.
December 31, 200817 yr Okay, seeing the replays that hit wasn't entirely clean. Cleary got the elbow up on Kane. That didn't cause the injury, though - Kane's skate stuck in the ice, causing his leg to turn inward in a very ugly way.
December 31, 200817 yr QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) Dang, cmon Hawks. Now is not the time to sit down! Eh, it's the law of averages. They're going to have a stinker every once in a while. I just want them to break the shutout.

Yep, you beat me to the punch. I posted the same thing (they are due for a stinker) about the Sharks when they were red hot only to get blown out in Detroit recently. And if you are due for a stinker, Detroit can pounce on such an opportunity. Hopefully the Hawks get them back on New Years.
