Even as one of Floyd's big fans...if it was possible to get Halladay without giving up Quentin or Danks I think you don't have much choice. I'd give up Floyd in that one.

Obviously it's a pipe dream as we don't have the bullets, but WOW it's ridiculous to think about.

The Sox have the bullets if they wanted to give up at least one of Danks/Floyd to go with Poreda and Fields (and possibly one more guy).

The Brewers have 2 Type A free agents so they could reload the farm system quickly.

That's exactly the type of deal I was thinking would work. If the Sox are willing to give up Fields, Poreda, Floyd, and one more prospect (maybe Lance Broadway), I think Toronto would consider it. So far there have been posters on here that think thats way too much and some that say it's not near enough.

 

I'd personally jump all over that deal to have Halladay for three years. Floyd is solid, but nowhere near the caliber of Halladay. And if it's truly about winning it all and not just making the playoffs, the Sox would have to say yes to this type of deal if the opportunity presents itself. To have Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, and Danks pitching in the playoffs would bring me a ton of confidence in the Sox chances.

Are you kidding me? You don't think Kenny would trade away Floyd if it brought Halladay back in return? Floyd would be the only player in the deal currently on the Sox major league team, so I have to assume that's who you are talking about. I think he'd do that in a heartbeat!

I just can't see the Blue Jays doing it for less than (Danks or Quentin) + Fields.

I'd give up Floyd in a second for Halladay. The money would just not work, yea its a pretty cheap contract for a pitcher as good as he is, but we would have to get rid of Count's money somehow and I don't see any team taking him for more than a High A baller. I would still cream myself if it happened..

When Wainwright comes back, they may put him at closer to help that awful pen out. That and he is probably not going to be fully healthy the rest of the season and they are not sure how long he could go as a starter now.

I always laugh when I look at threads like this, because regardless of how good a player is, if he requires a lot of money, it's automatically a BIG no-no for the Sox, lol.
