August 9, 200817 yr The Sun Times is reporting "exclusively" that Bernie Mac succumbed to pneumonia. He was a true Sox fan, did some innings on the radio last year, I believe. Here's the link. http://www.suntimes.com/1099574,mac080908.article
August 9, 200817 yr That's terrible and (seemingly) unexpected. He's definitely a guy I always liked as an actor/comedian... 50 is just so young. My thought and prayers will go out to his family.

August 9, 200817 yr Awful and sad. Everyone was reporting that he was doing so much better. RIP BMac. He got to see a World Series.
August 9, 200817 yr How come this isn't being reported anywhere now? Even the Sun Times took their report down. The coverage of this has been weird. Hopefully he is not gone.
August 9, 200817 yr Just saw on MSNBC that Bernie Mac died from pneumonia at the age of 50. Actor and comedian Bernie Mac dies at age 50 Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor and comedian Bernie Mack has died at age 50, his publicist said Saturday. Publicist Danica Smith said Bernie Mac died early Saturday at a hospital in the Chicago area of complications due to pneumonia. The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but he had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently had been hospitalized and treated for pneumonia. Mac had starring roles in “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Bad Santa,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and “Transformers.” The comedian drew critical and popular acclaim with his Fox television series “The Bernie Mac Show,” which aired more than 100 episodes from 2001 to 2006. August 9, 200817 yr QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) From Pneumonia??? Isn't it rare nowadays to die from that? I think he had some disease and pneumonia was an offshoot of that. Kinda like HIV...you don't die from HIV, you die from the sickness you can get from the HIV-weakened immune system.
August 9, 200817 yr Always sad to see a Sox fan and Chicagoan go, especially so young. Bernie was the epitome of cool. We'll miss you Mac! Edited August 9, 200817 yr by SmashROT
August 9, 200817 yr I remember when he sang the 7th inning stretch in Game 6 for Cubs/Marlins and said "Root, root, root for the champs!" and cursed them even more. I'll love him for that.
