Best burger from a chain restaurant I've had, bar none, was Backyard Burger. They're a smaller chain, in the south, so I suppose most here haven't had one. But they are superb.

 

If you're looking for a cheeseburger, screw the rest of them, do the drive to New Buffalo MI and go to Redamak's. Done Fatburger, In & Out, Carls Jr., etc. Haven't yet hit the place that is anywhere close to them.

 

Redamaks is good, but it isn't that good. If you want to get into local joints, there are plenty of better places in Chicago.

Seriously. Stop there. That was one of the couple places (The others being Jimmy Johns and the Taste) that I made sure to stop at when I was back in NWI for my wedding last year.

It is definately worth the stop. We eat there at least 4-5 times a summer.

A friend of mine who lives in Houston would always talk about it. I finally saw one in Tucson (I think) when I went to ST and man there is NO better fast food burger. I reiterate, for the price and for a chain.

 

I think some of the above mentioned start to fall into casual dining and not fast food. Perhaps where we draw the line between fast food and whatever is up the chain from that. The Pelican Pub has an awesome burger on South Padre Island, But it is not fast food, and I do expect better. Some place like Fuddruckers should be better then a 'fast food place". But by incremental degrees.

Fatburger looks enormous. I looked up some images, and dang. I wonder why he's opening the first in Orland Park though. That's kind of weird to me, not that I care though since I work a couple of blocks from the location.

Yeah, but those places you mention are a step up from fast food. I would expect to get a better burger there.

 

Absolutely! Sometimes you have to spare no expense, (but i won't pay 40 bux for a Kobe beef burger, lol) to get a really good one from time to time.......

 

Red Robin's Monster Burger's pretty good too, love the bottomless steak fries as well..........

Everyone out here raves about Red Robin, so I finally tried one and was very dissapointed. We had overall bad service and the place was kinda dirty too, I bet it varies from location to location.

Redamak's reigns supreme as far as I am concered with burgers. Hackney's is the only place to come close to me, and I can't even compare the two since Hackney's is a classic pub style burger.

A fast food place I suggest you check out is "The Varsity."

 

Its in the Atlanta area, if you visit stop by there, very old joint, very good food, but very bad for you lol.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Portillo's cheeseburgers. In a joint known for hotdogs, it's funny how the cheeseburger is the best thing there. Only better burger I've had was in Siesta Keys FL, or J Alexanders.

Its not the best thing there, the beef/combo and chicken sandwich are better, and I'd even put the chopped salad up there.

The double cheesburger from Pepper's

The hand-made 1/2# cheeseburger from Coca's.

backyard burger has the closest burger to real restaurant quality of any fastfood i have ever had...good chicken and fries there too...i wish they had em near chicago

I personally think In N' Out is slightly overrated.

 

There burgers are alright, the ordering thing is just plain stupid unless you are from Cali, and their fries are absolutley terrible...
