October 2, 200817 yr 5 September starts 2-2 5.19 ERA 1.46 WHIP .240 BAA This one's no where near over fellas.
October 2, 200817 yr we only need 1 of 2 on the road to start this. We had a 10x better chance in game 2 then game 1 going in. this changes nothing
October 2, 200817 yr We need 6 or 7 good innings out of Mark tomorrow. I think if we score 6+ runs, we'll win the game. Do it, guys!
October 2, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) we only need 1 of 2 on the road to start this. We kept it close despite Javy going out and doing what he does (6 earned)... thankfully Clayton ate up the rest of the innings.
October 2, 200817 yr I was encouraged to see that, unlike the in the NL, the team winning the first game of the ALDS is only 12-14 in the series.
October 2, 200817 yr far from over. A win tomorrow and momentum shifts to us going home for some blackout action.
October 2, 200817 yr I'm not especially worried. This was easily the least favorable pitching matchup for us, and if we win tomorrow, we'll be in great shape heading home with the series tied.
October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) I was encouraged to see that, unlike the in the NL, the team winning the first game of the ALDS is only 12-14 in the series. Really? where did you see that?
October 2, 200817 yr Tomorrow is the game...and who would you rather have? It's ON now....Tampa Bay now gets to face some competent big league pitching after todays BP session.
October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Really? where did you see that? It was shown on Red Sox/Angels last night, but I couldn't believe it. Here we go: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.j...sp&c_id=mlb Teams that go up 1-0 in the ALDS are 12-14; road teams that win Game 1 are 6-7 and home teams that win Game 1 are 6-7. By contrast, teams that go up 1-0 in the NLDS are 23-3. Edited October 2, 200817 yr by Sox It To Em
October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) It was shown on Red Sox/Angels last night, but I couldn't believe it. Here we go: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.j...sp&c_id=mlb wow. So this games really didn't mean much of anything. Series starts tomorrow when the real pitchers show up.
October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) never expected a win today, need mark to come up huge again tomorrow. Ditto. This is why I'm not all that upset. If we lose tomorrow, it will be tough for me to take.
October 2, 200817 yr heard somewhere on teh radio that kazmir hasn't been able to locate his slider at all lately and because of it he has basically ditched it and is a fastball change up guy....hopefully he doesn't find it tomorrow
October 2, 200817 yr We need 1 win in Tampa and to hold home court. We have 2 more shots at the win in Tampa, and Mark will be on the mound for both of them. Tampa has had a weakness against lefties this season (sounds familiar), let's exploit it.
October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) heard somewhere on teh radio that kazmir hasn't been able to locate his slider at all lately and because of it he has basically ditched it and is a fastball change up guy....hopefully he doesn't find it tomorrow if he does, Mark will need to pitch a shutout. When on, Kazmir is nasty.

October 2, 200817 yr QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) if he does, Mark will need to pitch a shutout. When on, Kazmir is nasty. but the Sox kill lefties!
October 2, 200817 yr I recognize the meaning behind this thread. But has Kazmir faced an offense as one dimensional as ours of late and gotten lit up? I doubt it. Our offense is the perfect medicine for a struggling pitcher.
October 2, 200817 yr sounds like Aybar was talking s*** to AJ -- missed that on the tv coverage. has there ever been a brawl in the playoffs?

October 3, 200817 yr im down with everyone saying game 2 is a more winnable game for us. One of these first 2 we have to win tho IMO. If we lose tomorrow, I do not think we have a chance. So to me - tomorrow is a HUGE game.
October 3, 200817 yr QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) When was this? read it in the suntimes and the trib mentions it - i don't know what inning, lame TBS didn't show it.
