October 7, 200817 yr Hopefully we'll be able to limit the injuries next year and stay competitive with (hopefully) some new, fresh faces on the Sox Every team in our division next year could be a huge surprise
October 7, 200817 yr it just sucks because like you said, every team in our division could be good next year, playoff chances dont come every year, even if we are a good team next year. Edited October 7, 200817 yr by CryptviLL
October 7, 200817 yr Author I seriously hope Thome, Vazquez, Griffey, Swisher, Cabrera and Uribe are all gone this off-season Make it happen Kenny edit: forgot to add OC that's almost our entire lineup I want traded, what does that say about the white sox Edited October 7, 200817 yr by joesaiditstrue
October 7, 200817 yr I actually think Swisher will have a bounce back season next year. He's young and accomplished enough that it's a reasonable expectation.

October 7, 200817 yr I don't want either back. But if we have to keep one, it better be Thome. Griffey adds NOTHING to this team. Not a damn thing.

October 7, 200817 yr I'm going to enjoy the rest of the playoffs and get ready for what should be an interesting Hot Stove league.

Swisher, thome, I doubt they go anywhere.

October 7, 200817 yr Hey, if we can get something of value for Swisher then I'm game. But I'd have to imagine his trade value is extremely low right now. But like I said, he's still young and proven enough that he could either bounce back or some other team could give us something for him. Add to that he's signed to a very affordable contract.
October 7, 200817 yr Thank you for this season! We still f***ing made the playoffs! 2009 can't come soon enough!
October 7, 200817 yr I would like OC (obviously) and Thome gone. Uribe back to being the fill in Infielder. Get a decent 3B(Blake perhaps), SS, and a centerfielder. Move Swish to right, Dye at DH. Oh and I'd like to add a starter. Keep Javy in the number 5 slot. Edited October 7, 200817 yr by kjshoe04

Dye at DH I agree with, but I think CQ's natural position is RF, move swish permanently to left Honestly, how bad is Alexei at CF? The only downside I can think of is we'd be lacking in two infield spots

He played quite a bit of CF in Cuba as I recall Cubano posting. He was only moved to 2B when the hole opened up there and because he could play it. He's athletic enough that he would make the transition just fine.

I'm not saying that he would remind me of Jose out there. That was just funny in my mind. However, I think he is best suited for the infield. Specifically 2B. That throw he made in CF about 4 months ago still was fantastic.
October 7, 200817 yr This offense needs to be fixed. A sprinkling of some line drive types amongst the boppers would help. Hopefully KW doesnt translate this into Tavares. 2010 is when things really open up. Kenny needs to keep away from any aging sluggers for the next year. It was a good season. The pitching looks to be promising. The offense needs to be more than Ramirez and Q for the long run. Edited October 7, 200817 yr by southsideirish71
October 7, 200817 yr QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) I'm kind of surprised to see so many people want Thome gone. People have always wanted to see Thome gone. It doesn't surprise me in the least. He's still far and away the best left handed hitter the Sox have had in years...I'd guess since Ventura.

I don't see many takers for him in the trade market, and I don't know if he reached the AB goal to get his option picked up for 09.
October 7, 200817 yr Here's to 2008....a lot better than we expected. And here's to 2009...to the hope we can improve on this year!
October 7, 200817 yr Alot of good happened this season besides us making the playoffs: 1. Carlos Quentin 2. Alexei Ramirez 3. John Danks 4. Gavin Floyd Alot of people complained about our lack of youth and you have 4 players there that will be around for awhile. I too would love to see Thome, Cabrera, Vazquez, Griffey and Uribe gone. I think Swisher can rebound and Konerko still has something to contribute.
