Sox sign an ex-Angels farmhand

Featured Replies

I hereby nickname him "The Salesman"

With the type of numbers he has put up... he must be/have been a real jag for the Angels to tell him to take a hike.

Lets hope he has grown up... like that Jenks guy.

Agreed on all counts, including the nickname. :lolhitting

Ah, baseball america has alittle article on him. Very interesting. Nice kid, but isn't very coachable

Hmm, obviously lots of talent but to make it to the majors you have to be coachable.

I'm not gettin "the salesman". I don't get it. Can someone throw me a bone here.

Sounds good, our farm system needs all it can get. A nice year for rebuilding the system and (hopefully just) retooling of the already contending team.

Quite esoteric. Nice, though.

Sorry... I just assumed everyone was forced to read it in high school.

Exactly my thinking. And this might just be my opinion, but give me a talented guy who's deemed "uncoachable" (and I think there's always two sides to the story in cases like these) over the not so talented guy that coaches rave about.

With that much hitting talent, worth a shot. He may have sort of figured things out, and can be coached. If not, I'm sure it was a very low money deal, no big loss.

Under the Radar

Low risk, high reward

I should have known that, but in high school I think i started a bonfire and got drunk with my friends the night of the school play. I had so much direction in my life.

By the sounds of it, he seems to be the perfect pull happy candidate for Greg Walker...

Somewhere out there on the west coast a Sox fan is "freaking" loving this move.

Wrong forum, in my opinion.

I think he's likely to be wearing a purple weenie on his chest come April. W-S needs a power hitting 1B type for 2009. Otherwise, Christian Marrero will be starting at 1B. I would guess that Brandon Allen will start out in B'ham (YAY!) and move up to Charlotte mid-season. Then, Loman comes up to B'ham.
