McDowell was very overrated and not too clutch against Toronto in 93. Joel Horlen and Gary Peters were both much better. No way Ted Lyons should not be on the list. He pitched on some wretched teams and still managed to win 260 games.

That is why I voted other for him

Cicotte was good but because of what he did he shouldnt even be there...

It asked for the best pitcher, not the best pitcher who did the right thing. I don't know a lot about some of these, so I'm not going to vote, but i don't think you should throw him out of consideration just because he was part of the scandal.

I haven't been online for a while, so maybe i'm looking for trouble.

Horlen and Peters led a great pitching staff in the 60's. I agree both were better than McDowell and Black Jack was plenty good. I also think Wilbur Wood could be listed as an "other" when thinking about great pitching.

Why the hell not?

Personally the only time I saw Shoeless Joe Jackson was in Eight Men Out and Field of Dreams, but he was darned good.

LOL! Who voted for E Lo?

I think I'm gonna vote other and go with Jim Navarro (Thats a combined from of Jim Parque and Jamie Navarro) :headbang

Ed Walsh, easily. Lowest career ERA ever.

Melido f***ing Perez

Jack McDowell is not even close to the second best pitcher in White Sox history. I wouldn't put him in the top ten. This is depressing.

Career or season? That should always be made clear. How much of their career had to be spent with the Sox. In other words where's Tom Seaver? 311 wins 2.86 ERA and he won something like 25 games in '69 to help the Cubs to a terrible memory. Gotta love a guy like that.

I was thinking the samething. McDowell had what 5 or 6 good years and disappeared. There are so many better pitchers on that list.

Barry Jones

:D

we must consider one of the greatest cumulative staffs in the history of baseball.. rich wortham, ross baumgarten, ken kravec, chris knapp and jim otten with closer "bugs" moran in the pen.. that was legendary

Jeff Bittiger and Eric King were pretty good. Don't forget about the late Frankie Barrios. But the best Sox pitcher of all time has to be Farmio. If you don't think so, just ask him.

Haha, someone really did vote for Esteban? I thought Bmr was joking. LOL!

Anyway, I, for one, was shocked and saddened to not see Ken Hill's name on the list. :(

MMMmmm Best sox Pitcher.

I'm gonna go with the modern sox.

(No especific Order)
