August 31, 200916 yr Unless something crazy happens this last month, I think Greinke should be a lock to win it. He's clearly been the best pitcher in the AL from start to finish. Even when he was 'struggling' in the middle of the season he was still pitching better than the majority of pitchers in baseball. He's got a lot going against him, though. One, he only has 13 wins. It's a shame. He's gotten some of the crappiest run support in baseball, and the defense behind him is well below average. Two, he's not a Yankee or Red Sock. Which means less deserving guys like Sabathia or Beckett could steal the award.

The only person who should even be considered against him is King Felix, though I'm sure ESPN and others will slob on Sabathia's nuts cause as Kalapse said, his team is winning the division more than likely. September 8, 200916 yr If C.C. gets his ERA around 3, he's probably going to win it. Just because he will have around 20 wins and play for the Yankees. Greinke might be hard pressed to win 16-17 games. If he does, I don't see how you don't give him the award. But the thing is, these voters weigh W-L record almost as much as ERA. Bartolo Colon won the award in 2005 with a ERA of 3 and a half. He won it because he went 21-5. Johan's ERA was nearly a run lower and he finished 3rd. Edited September 8, 200916 yr by chw42
September 8, 200916 yr If I was to vote, I'd definitely vote for Greinke. He's been unbelievable this year, he deserves it so much. It would be a tragic shame if he lost it just because he's not on a winning team. Plus... he made me look like a genius when I drafted him in one of my 20-team/25-man roster fantasy baseball leagues in a later round instead of drafting a "premium" pitcher like Linecum or Halladay in an earlier round.
