July 22, 200916 yr Some guy on ESPN saying White Sox got Adam LaRoche Chris Mack on ESPN radio said the same source that called the Nyjer Morgan trade correctly is hearing it's to the White SoxI have no idea.
July 22, 200916 yr He's a nice lefty bat to have in the line-up, but... um.... where would he play. He's a first baseman.
July 22, 200916 yr From Rotoworld: "According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Dejan Kovacevic, the Red Sox have acquired Pirates first baseman Adam LaRoche. Jul. 22 - 12:18 pm et"
July 22, 200916 yr Title changed so that people don't freak. Confirm it a little more and we'll move to Diamond club.
July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) So why do the Red Sox need another 1b? Lowell might be out for the year, so they'll move Youkilis to 3rd base. I hate watching LaRoche hit, so I'm very happy the White Sox didn't get him.
July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) I'm very happy the White Sox didn't get him. As am I.

I hate watching LaRoche hit, so I'm very happy the White Sox didn't get him. If our backup first baseman is just gonna swing for the fences and strike out a lot, I would much rather have it be Fields instead of LaRoche
July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Red Sox got him. Not White. Whew....sigh of relief. I wouldn't want him. Frickin' Boston can have him.
July 22, 200916 yr Pirates get back Argenis Diaz and Hunter Strickland. According to Balder and Goldstein the BoSox didn't give up much (nor should they of for 2 months of LaRoche). Diaz is a plus defender with no bat and Strickland was a projectable arm two years ago with a low 90's FB that hasn't been able to turn the corner.
July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) Andy LaRoche must be pissed. At least Andy hasn't sucked as much as his brother this year. Now there won't be any more LaRoche confusion on the Pirates. I really don't know if this move to Boston will help LaRoche that much. He does get to hit in a better lineup, but it'll probably in the 7th or 8th spot. Plus, Fenway doesn't exactly favor left handed bats as much as right handed ones.
July 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Plus, Fenway doesn't exactly favor left handed bats as much as right handed ones. It depends on the kind of hitter they are. Line drives off the monster from a LH batter are a great way to make a living, and that's still a really short fence in RF.
