Mark Buehrle Sets Another Major League Record: 45 Straight Retired

By Jason Gage

SoxNet.net

Mark Buehrle just retired former White Sox, Joe Crede, to set a new major league record for most consecutive batters retired (42). The streak ended at 45 when Mark Buehrle walked Alexi Casilla on a 3-2 count. The Twins followed-up the walk with a single which ended Buehrle's no-hitter.

Welcome aboard!!!

Oh my god, this is f***ing unbelievable.

What a season for Mark. Now if only Pods could catch...

Isn't that the record Jenks tied in 2007 that Gathright got the hit to end?

Yep

Congrat's Mark!

At least somebody showed up ready to play today.

Congrats Mark!

If you could only play all 9 positions, and bat all spots in a game(with the exception of Beckhams spot in the order)....maybe you would have had another perfect game winning 10-0

This streak, without having to face a pitcher, and 6 innings on turf is about as great a streak as we may ever see

Not to be a dick, but it was Alexi Casilla that was walked to break the streak.

What a sweet run....very impressive. My son asked me if I thought MB's face would appear on the outfield wall some day, lol, I think that's pretty much a given at this point.

Mark should return the gifts he ordered for the team after the embarrassing defensive display last night.

The fact that this happened in the Metrodome makes it even more amazing.

Congrats to Mark. What he has done is truly amazing and couldn't happen to a nicer guy. :gosox3:

Awesome Mark, just awesome. A huge bright spot in an otherwise middling season.

I thought this feat was just as important as the perfect game...

Of course, the perfect game was part of this feat as well.

When you consider the fact that a perfect game had been accomplished 17 times before, and this had never been done, then yeah it's pretty damn impressive.
