August 25, 200916 yr The Mets have had one of the worst years ever in terms of injuries, and now their ace is out for the last month or so. He should be ready for spring training. I bet if they were in the race, he might try to pitch through it, but no point in it now. Right now they have Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Wright, Putz, & now Santana all on the DL. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4421928

August 25, 200916 yr QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Sometimes I wonder if there is something more at work here than bad luck. Poor training, poor field conditions, schedules, etc./ I think that there's something to how some of these really nasty breaking pitches are thrown these days that is putting a little extra stress on some elbows (Sliders and those really hard changeups, for example)
August 25, 200916 yr I hope we don't follow up this s***ty mostly healthy season with an injury plagued season like them. We're not taking advantage of our health. (White Sox)
August 26, 200916 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) My question is... Why didn't he ever get hurt in Minnesota? He has already had one elbow surgery in 2001.
August 27, 200916 yr Let's compare: Ramirez, Quentin, Dye, and Konerko all on the DL at one time, with Thornton and one of Buehrle/Floyd/Danks. That's f***ing ridiculous. Edited August 27, 200916 yr by onedude
