September 9, 200916 yr Wait a second... You can use a major league player on a rehab assignment in the minor league playoffs? That just seems wrong. Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Justin Edwards in the Carolina League playoffs. Winston-Salem vs. Salem Kannapolis vs. Lakewood Great Falls vs. Helena Edited September 9, 200916 yr by Ozzie Ball
September 9, 200916 yr f***ing Boston.. Oh well.. it'll be good for our minor league players to see how they fare against a major league pitcher. Gives them that confidence boost.
September 9, 200916 yr The Reds decided to leave Jay Bruce down in AAA, becasuse they had nothing left to play for in the big leagues. Thought that was hilarious.
September 9, 200916 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Wait a second... You can use a major league player on a rehab assignment in the minor league playoffs? That just seems wrong. Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Justin Edwards in the Carolina League playoffs. That's just not fair. KW should send Peavy to Winston-Salem to start game 2 and return the favor.
September 9, 200916 yr Our guys in Kannapolis and Winston-Salem need all the good mojo they can get tonight.
September 9, 200916 yr I like the Barons and Kanny's chances in a 5 game series. As for the Purple Phallus, well, Loman better hit his ass off this series. Edited September 9, 200916 yr by Thunderbolt

September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) Brent Morel with an RBI single off Daisuke. Would Dice-K even be eligible for the postseason for the Red Sox??? If not, why is he rehabbing for an A ball team in the playoffs unless the Boston organization are just being a$$holes?

If not, why is he rehabbing for an A ball team in the playoffs unless the Boston organization are just being a$$holes? When a guy is on the DL, the roster rules change a lot. He'd be eligible if he came off the DL. Occasionally teams use the DL as a way to sneak an extra guy on that they can move on to the roster later.

September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) 60 day DL guys are not on the 40 man roster. Doesn't matter. If the player is on the disabled list or bereavement list, he's still postseason eligible. But...they would need to take a man off their 40 man roster to bring him on if they don't have any other openings.

Even Ed Collari said, "it's the Red Sox…what do you expect?"

I'm not disagreeing that it's a D*** move, just saying that he can still appear on the postseason roster if he was on the DL on the 1st.

September 10, 200916 yr What's even worse is I have to listen to Salem's radio broadcast instead of Collari.
September 10, 200916 yr Maybe Josh Beckett could work through his issues by pitching for Salem in game 2 or 3?
September 10, 200916 yr Author If I'm Salem, I wouldn't even want to win that way. It's a complete dick move.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) Is there anywhere else that Daisuke could get his innings/work in? Side session in Boston... just like Peavy is doing for us... Rather than screwing up the season for minor leaguers who have worked their a** off to get to the playoffs. Edited September 10, 200916 yr by scenario
