September 10, 200916 yr Everytime I try to get out, they keep pulling me back in. LAA is throwing two lefties against our very righthanded team. Meanwhile, Detroit will shortly face Halladay and Romero. Why cant I just give up on this thing.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 06:04 AM) Uh...this thread seems to forget that the Sox are in fact in third place. The Twins have to suck ass too. Twins pitching will find a way. That isnt to say we cant find a way either, but hey, I'm fine with all three teams being in it at the end. Way better than what we have now. And actually that's our best case scenario, since for this to work, we need to root for Minn over Det in their head-to-heads Edited September 10, 200916 yr by Princess Dye

September 10, 200916 yr Detroit will be better than 9-15. Edited September 10, 200916 yr by Steve9347
September 10, 200916 yr I believe for every drop of rain that falls A flower grows, I believe that somewhere in the darkest night A candle glows, I believe for everyone who goes astray, Someone will come to show the way, I believe, I believe. I believe above the storm a smallest prayer Will still be heard, I believe that someone in the great somewhere Hears every word, Every time I hear a newborn baby cry, Or touch a leaf, or see the sky, Then I know why, I believe. Every time I hear a newborn baby cry, Or touch a leaf, or see the sky, Then I know why, I believe

September 10, 200916 yr My fear is that the season will come down to the last six games against Detroit. If we go into that stretch less than 6 games back it's going to be extremely stressful, and I will have to consume more beer. For excitement purposes it would be awesome. But just imagine the Sox taking a huge dump when it really matters (you know, like they've done several times already). If that happened at the end of the season, SoxTalk may have to be shut down due to negativity, screaming, and vomiting.
September 10, 200916 yr I'd just like to point out that if we gain one more game on DET in the next week, then we will be less than 6 games back, with 6 games remaining against them. Still a long shot, but, just saying, it means we control our own destiny. The fat lady is warming up back stage, but she ain't singin' yet.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) I'd just like to point out that if we gain one more game on DET in the next week, then we will be less than 6 games back, with 6 games remaining against them. Still a long shot, but, just saying, it means we control our own destiny. The fat lady is warming up back stage, but she ain't singin' yet. Its very unrealistic to think we will sweep 6 games from Detroit. I know we all want to have a shot and make that last series at home fun and seem like a playoff. So I think we need to be no more than 4 games out before that series. That way a 5 of 6 does the trick. If we can somehow be 3 out than 4 of 6 would make it very interesting. So go KC today and finish the sweep!
September 10, 200916 yr If the Tigers loss this weekend to Toronto and the Sox sweep the Angels I will start to take notice. Until then....
September 10, 200916 yr If we are six or seven back when we first play Detroit, I hope the media doesn't act like it's a colossal failure if we split with them or something. I mean the odds of overcoming a team when that team is six up on you are monumental no matter how much we want to win all six. Detroit would have no pressure knowing they just have to win one or two max to finish us off.
September 10, 200916 yr Twins did their part today by losing now if only KC could hold on to their 2-0 lead. Washburn with a high pitch count already.
September 10, 200916 yr Twins certainly don't have the "it" factor this year, either. They have really been mediocre.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) Twins certainly don't have the "it" factor this year, either. They have really been mediocre. Their pitching has been decimated by injury. Its hard to have "it" when you aren't going to battle with your best weapons.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) Detroit will be better than 9-15. Not if we go 6-0 against them. /half-green
September 10, 200916 yr I'd just like to get to 3.0 games back by the last series of the year in Detroit. Essentially we would have 3 playoff games right there, and it would be interesting to see how Detroit would react to that. I think the last few years we've had some sweeps vs. Detroit.
September 10, 200916 yr QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) Tigers lose. 7 back in loss column now. and 5 in the win column. Detroit only has one day off the rest of the season and has to play the Sox and Twins 13 times out of their last 23.
September 10, 200916 yr big hill to climb, esp. w/trip to cali to face the angels. And I've only just stopped puking after the last road trip.
