September 29, 200916 yr QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) You might be right, but wouldn't their Beat writer know more about them than Sox fans who don't live in the market? Or perhaps he sugar-coats stuff like Merkin. Gotta get those season ticket applications filled. Rays season ticket holder: "NO CRAWFORD OR UPTON?!" "I ain't sending them s***!"
September 29, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) Rays season ticket holder: Oxymoron?
September 29, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Oxymoron? They were in the World Series last year. They have similar fickle fans to the Sox.
September 29, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) They were in the World Series last year. They have similar fickle fans to the Sox. They sure do love their cowbell though.

I'm not privy to their books or long-term plans, but I don't see why the Rays need to move either of these guys this winter. Upton's under team control through 2012 and they can always let Crawford walk next winter and take the draft picks.
September 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) I'm not privy to their books or long-term plans, but I don't see why the Rays need to move either of these guys this winter. Upton's under team control through 2012 and they can always let Crawford walk next winter and take the draft picks. Because why get draft picks when you can get AAA/Major League Ready prospects?
September 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) Because why get draft picks when you can get AAA/Major League Ready prospects? If the Rays still feel that their window of opportunity is open, keeping Crawford around for one more season makes sense.
October 3, 200916 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Upton just hit for the cycle. He's a more talented Alex Rios, but a bigger tease. I still think he's going to explode any minute though.

October 3, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) No, he is much more talented then Rios. I might compare him to Beltran actually. His upside is spectacular. He was just amazing against Boston last year.

Well I was trying to be nice.. haha but you win. Beltran is a nice comparison. I loved Beltran comming out as well and had some heated arguments over his potential when I was in love with him. I still love me some Cameron Maybin as well.
October 3, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) He was just amazing against Boston last year. He was pretty good against us as well.
October 3, 200916 yr My Dad is a Rays fan who lives near TB and was really frustrated with Upton all year long. A big reason was his K's and hitting at the top of the lineup [though Upton didn't make out the lineup card].
