April 18, 201015 yr Baseball Tonight sayd the red flag should be waved for the White Sox, Red Sox, Diamond Backs, and Cubs. Goes on to say "give the Chisox two months and if their offense remains this bad maybe a trade for A Gonzalez is a possible move."
April 18, 201015 yr Actually, now that i think about it. Didn't Lyndon B. Johnson once say, "If I've lost Baseball Tonight, I've lost Middle America?."

April 18, 201015 yr We are a s***ty, last place team, with a s***ty, last place offense. We lost a lot of production when we let Thome and Dye walk (still the right calls), but did NOTHING to replace it. I am beyond pissed and disappointed with the White Sox right now. All of that said, talk of waving the White Flag in April is ridiculous.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) We are a s***ty, last place team, with a s***ty, last place offense. We lost a lot of production when we let Thome and Dye walk (still the right calls), but did NOTHING to replace it. Sadly, we didn't lose that much production when we let JD walk. He's done. As crappy as this offense has been at times, the starting pitching (which was supposed to be the strength of this team) has been incredibly bad at times as well.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) As crappy as this offense has been at times, the starting pitching (which was supposed to be the strength of this team) has been incredibly bad at times as well. Prior to Gavin's bombing today, Our starters' ERA was 4.09. Middle of the pack in the AL.
April 18, 201015 yr I still think the starters can turn it around, especially with Hudson in the wings. The bullpen is stellar. And this offense is a load of crap. If they could average 3 runs a game we'd have more wins. Ugh.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) Prior to Gavin's bombing today, Our starters' ERA was 4.09. Middle of the pack in the AL. I imagine there's a pretty large standard deviation in that number. Peavy's first two outings were bad, especially for a Cy Young winner who is supposed to be carrying this squad. ERAs of right now are... Peavy: 6.00 Buehrle: 3.00 Floyd: 9.00 Danks: 1.38 Garcia: 8.10 Small sample size and all, but not any smaller than the one applied to Alexei, Pierre, Kotsay, etc. Edited April 18, 201015 yr by WCSox

And this offense is a load of crap. If they could average 3 runs a game we'd have more wins. Ugh. As awesome as the numbers are they've blown about 2 or 3 games already in this young season. I don't care about numbers. I want results.
April 18, 201015 yr I know this team can play better. Whether or not they will remains to be seen, or whether or not it will be too late by the time they do.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Prior to Gavin's bombing today, Our starters' ERA was 4.09. Middle of the pack in the AL. Well that's kind of disappointing considering I remember people here were upset when some site (was it ESPN?) didn't have the Sox ranked as the best starting rotation in baseball. Given the expectations here, you can't say they've been doing a good job. I think pretty much everyone here would say that if the Sox starters weren't at least top 3 the team would struggle. The offense has been bad but there's plenty of blame to go around.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) i just want to remind everyone that we just got swept by the indians. yeah, I think most of us remember that, but there's also 149 games left in the season, and as a poster said above, this team can play better... will they or at least do it quickly enough? Who knows.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) i just want to remind everyone that we just got swept by the indians. We? No. The White Sox got swept. They've also lost 5 of 6 to the tribe this year.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) yeah, I think most of us remember that, but there's also 149 games left in the season, and as a poster said above, this team can play better... will they or at least do it quickly enough? Who knows. well, let me ask you, what season have we started poorly that we've made the playoffs. This happens every year we don't make the playoffs and we all go "ooh we are gonna heat up!" but really we are just a .500 to below team with a 100 mill payroll.
April 18, 201015 yr The only concern I have is Peavy and his lack of velocity. If he can regain his form and pitch like a #1 guy I think the Sox can still compete for the division. Offense is bad, but other than Jones and maybe Rios, I don't think anyone on the team has hit up to their potential. Konerko and Quentin have been mercurial despite some nice moments. We'll see how we look once the guys start hitting.
April 18, 201015 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) yeah, I think most of us remember that, but there's also 149 games left in the season, and as a poster said above, this team can play better... will they or at least do it quickly enough? Who knows. I think if you'd acknowledge the problems this team was having right now, rather then writing them off as too early, you'll find the eventual realization that, "Boy, maybe this team really is fundamentally flawed from the beginning," a lot easier to come to terms with. Edited April 18, 201015 yr by Thunderbolt
April 18, 201015 yr Why do people use terms like "fundamentally flawed"? Why not just say they aren't a strong team? Sometimes you just don't have a roster capable of competing with top teams. After two weeks, it looks like the Twins have a superior roster. A lot is going to have to change to turn that around, but there's still time.

Hey they aren't fundamentally flawed they are just not capable of competing with teams that can actually make the playoffs-type flawed.

April 18, 201015 yr ahh, great. Once in our existence and none with any semblance of our current group of players. Reassuring. but kenny can just see what the problem is and readjust midway through! That's a great idea! these games don't matter!
