Teahen really needs to just be in a platoon with Nix, he has no prayer against LHP not named Mark Buehrle.

A platoon wouldn't be the worst thing. But you realize, that if any infielder outside of Kong are moved out of the lineup, Omar is Guillens next option.

thorton ate cuddles up there

Just catching up with game now....

What the heck's going on with Beckham? No change at all in his approach? This is not boding well for his season....well, hopefully he'll snap out of it somehow, he's simply too good not to.

Bring in Santos!

He gawn!

OK gents, lets hold them and get out of this place with a game 1 win!

thorton = money

lets hope santos pitches the ninth

Matt f***ing Thornton

Nice.

Now what the hell is going to happen in the 9th. Second inning for Matt? Bobby? JJ? Sergio?

I have a bad feeling about Ozzie bringing in Jenks for the 9th.

he's the one person walker should be working with the most in the lineup as he is the youngest on the team....

Cowley says Jenks is warming up.

Haha...organization is full of cowards

jenks can take his 6.75 ERA and sit back down

This inning illustrated more than any other why we can't just simply make Thornton the "9th inning guy", i.e. "the closer". He is and always will be a situational guy - and based on this inning, that ain't such a bad thing. He fought through a very tough and lefty-heavy part of the order that happened to be coming up in the 8th inning of this particular game. We don't have anybody else capable of taking on that type of lefthanded onslaught late in the game. So while I'm concerned about Bobby and what not with the 9th inning closing chores, I'm still inclined to continue using Thornton in just the way we've successfully used him in the past few years.

Two changes and both are not working. One is the use of the spread stance, and the other looks to be a change in hand position. Whatever they are doing its making things worse. Its time to bring in Walt before he gets ruined.

Really not acceptable.
