It's too bad the Hawks had their typical huge mistakes in the 2nd period to give Phoenix a point. But as long as the Hawks keep winning like they did tonight, things will be fine.

Yeah, sucks to only get 1 point on Phoenix, but at least it's a win. Don't stop now boys!

NHL trade deadline, think it's my favorite deadline day, always seems to be tons of action. Hawks had been rumored to be picking up a D-man, and with the possible injury to Hendry last night, that makes it even more likely.

It sucks that they gave up a point to Phoenix last night, but the win was huge, especially with Nashville/Calgary/Anaheim all winning. Fun game to be at, definitely starting to feel more like a playoff-like atmosphere towards the end. Keep up the hot streak and steal two points in Minny tonight.

I seen on one of the boards to expect if Stan strikes out on other Dmen he will try to bring Vandermeer back.. I sure hope he can do a lot better than that.

I must be missing something here.

I'm thinking it's Joe, and not you, who is missing something. Hell, I think he misses a lot!

Hawks supposedly after this f***, Ladislav Smid.

1st rounder in 2004, 24, pretty s***ty player judging by the statistics. Career -42, hopefully scouts see something we can use in him if we do indeed go that route.

Hendry also severely injured his knee yesterday, according to Jesse Rogers on ESPN Radio. Not good. Very little depth for the Hawks on the blue line now. Wonder if Scott will get any time there now (hope not though).

It will be ole change-of-scenery cliche. I wonder how often that actually works.

You'd be better off with Steve Harnden on the blue line than Jon Scott.

Not much to miss. Seabrook looks like a guido douchebag off of Jersey Shore.

Sounds like defenseman Chris Campoli to the #Blackhawks

Career -42 plus/minus, never a season on the plus side. This isn't much.

Hawks acquired Chris Campoli and a 7th for Potulny and a conditional 2nd

A second-round (even if conditional) pick for that s***ty ass defenseman? WTF?

I wonder what the conditions are. Even if not met, you would have to imagine the pick becomes a third rounder. What a s***ty trade.

Barry Melrose analysis: (It does seem like a 2nd rounder is a lot to give up)

Barry Melrose: Good puck mover. good skater, which everyone on Chicago is. Competes very hard, good character guy, so he will be a good depth defenseman for the Hawks. Again the fifth and sixth defenseman for Chicago only has to play 10 to 15 minutes a game.

McGuire says Hawks looking to add one more D man. -TSN #Blackhawks

ASSETS: Is extremely mobile and very polished when in possession of the puck. Can make up for his mistakes with his speed. Has some offensive ability.

FLAWS: Needs to work on his defensive-zone coverage, which is spotty at best. Struggles when he has to lay on the body, and can get manhandled in front of his own net.

CAREER POTENTIAL: Mobile defenseman with consistency issues.

We don't need a puckmoving defenseman, we need a penalty killer who brings toughness. This guy seems the exact opposite. We better be getting something else.

That is exactly what he is.. the opposite of what the Hawks need.. no idea wtf Stan is thinking with this deal I would have rather seen Konopka for that 2nd....

A second is pretty steep, but a lot of teams are trying to acquire defense right now. The Hawks also looked to be desperate with the injury to Hendry.

However, I also do agree with the guys above me that he doesn't really seem to fit with what the needs are.

Only way this deal makes any sense is if the plan is to have him take Leddy's spot... and they need to find a real dman

Kings get Dustin Penner from the Oilers. They have been hot recently, watch out for them.
