How many friggin hanging sliders are we gonna let get back? Seriously.

Because so many of our hitters are flying open way too much. All of our righties besides Quentin were doing that tonight. Even Rios has been flying open as of late.

I'm done with game threads for the season. Maybe southsider can make one.

i dont want to hear any crap that we battled down to the end and never gave up. KC gave us everything and we still couldnt take it

We didn't battle at all.

Completely agree.

This game feels like a bad, bad omen. One of the worst teams in the league tries to give you the game and you don't take it. Scary s***.

Will any of these underachiever step up besides Konerko/Rios/Quentin?

The AL is a wonderful beast.

That pitch was right down the f***ing middle.

Alexei really is a terrible offensive player. I had zero confidence he was going to come through in that situation. Does he have a "clutch" hit since the slam against Detroit?

Thing is, we lose to anyone with how we played tonight.

I just really hate Kotsay....

I'm amazed that you have yet to land a gig as a hitting coach.

Sox are 7-12 vs KC and Cleveland.

Well, it's pretty f***ing obvious. If I was the hitting coach, I guarantee you that I would not just use the line "it's all mental". There's some fundamentally-flawed mechanics with guys like Beckham.

man that was a great game

The AL is a wonderful beast.

It has nothing to do with the AL or the NL.

This Royals team probably played the worst baseball I've seen since the Pirates series.

They made errors everywhere, gave up outs on bad base running. They sucked.

The only problem was that we sucked even more.

Tack on another loss to our terrible record against AL teams. Hopefully one day soon that will start turning around.

one thing that i've learned about the sox is that they are a fragile team mentally, and i knew (well I had a good feeling) that there was a great chance we would lose back to back games, especially with Mark pitching... who the Royals seem to just manhandle with MVP candidates Bloomquist and Aviles in the lineup

maybe it was just the thought that maybe the american league could slow them down and they were all thinking about the AL vs NL bulls*** that the media has been throwing out there the past two weeks, maybe they let it get to them and they got TBS that Rongey always talks about

have to win these next two games, hopefully they're against pitchers we've f***ing seen before

We have seen Grienke, however he is pretty good.

Greinke is going to dominate the Sox on Wednesday I have a feeling, so tomorrow is huge!

The scary thing is that the correction is well underway for Rios, his numbers are coming back down to his career norms and we still have a ways to go until they get there. I'm not sure we can survive a Rios rough patch, even if Quentin is tearing the cover off the ball.

That will be the difference come September

I said earlier in the game, but the time is now for KW to be proactive. By the magic of something, we're back in the race. Don't let it slip away though! We probably can't afford to fall back 6 or 7 games again, especially with the Twins having resources to acquire a SP.

Hopefully, Rios' correction doesn't result in a huge dip. He's projected to hit with a .354 wOBA and a .801 OPS for the rest of the year.

We might see his average dip slightly below .300. Hopefully, it's nothing more than that.

Well, he got a base hit today and just missed a home run....but yeah, the road to hell is paved with almost home runs...

Four hits ain't gonna cut it.

The NL win streak was wonderful. It got us back in the race. Now if KW would make a couple decent moves we might stay in the race.

Jones, Kotsay, Juan, Beckham, AJ still are not hitting.

If Dayan isn't going to get a chance, we at least must acquire a decent DH type soon, soon, soon.

Again I take nothing away from the great win streak. But we still have not near enough offense to beat AL teams.

I fully agree Greg.
