July 24, 201015 yr No. It will probably be Torii, Ichiro, and Crawford. Two of those three will be deserving
July 24, 201015 yr Who cares about Gold Gloves anyways? It's not like the best fielders even get them. Edited July 24, 201015 yr by chw42
July 24, 201015 yr He's having a good year, but really he is not even one of the ten best OFs fielding-wise in the AL. I couldn't name off the top of my head ten better, but trust me here. He also has a noodle arm which is big in defense value. Good year, but not great. In fact, I would argue Alex is a better fielder than Juan and more deserving of a gold glove despite not being super great either. Edited July 24, 201015 yr by maggsmaggs
July 24, 201015 yr Don't they usually give the OF gold gloves to 3 CF's or at least 2 CF's and Ichiro?

But Juan is third amongst all LFers in UZR, noodle arm or not.
July 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) I am not sure, wanted to see what the experts think on this forum :-) There are "experts" and then there are us lowly Soxtalk posters
July 24, 201015 yr The GG officially died when Franklin Gutierrez, who had one of the most spectacular defensive seasons EVER, didn't get it last year.

July 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) It officially died long, long before that though. Well it died to me after that.
July 24, 201015 yr The Gold Glove should have died to everyone in 1999 when Palmiero won it by playing 28 games at 1B and 128 games at DH.
July 25, 201015 yr QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) Pierre hasnt hit well enough to win one. Bingo. Someone finally hit it dead on. Sad to say it comes down to that, but that's the way it goes.
July 25, 201015 yr This is off-topic, but has anybody watched or caught any highlights of Tony Gwynn? That dude is a beast in CF. He's been the NL's answer to Franklin Gutierrez, who I feel is the best defensive player in baseball, this year.
July 25, 201015 yr Pierre should never get a GG because part of OF defense is throwing, and teams take extra bases on him at will.
July 25, 201015 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Pierre should never get a GG because part of OF defense is throwing, and teams take extra bases on him at will. I agree. Crawford >> Pierre.
July 26, 201015 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) The Gold Glove should have died to everyone in 1999 when Palmiero won it by playing 28 games at 1B and 128 games at DH. This just made me REALLY angry. I guess it's a well known fact....something needs to be done.
