August 23, 201015 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Good days for Trayce, Dayan, and Heidenreich Don't forget Rienzo. He is dominating this year.
August 23, 201015 yr QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) Don't forget Rienzo. He is dominating this year. Has he moved into top 10 prospect position in our organization?
August 23, 201015 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Has he moved into top 10 prospect position in our organization? Oh, I have no idea, but he is surely one of a handful of pitchers we have that exploded this year. We don't have many very encouraging hitters this year, but for the most part, pitching has been great from a lot of young guys.
August 23, 201015 yr Heidenreich has been on fire this year, honestly I think he probably has more upside than most, if not all, of our pitching prospects. (even more upside than Homberg, before he got traded away)
August 23, 201015 yr QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Heidenreich has been on fire this year, honestly I think he probably has more upside than most, if not all, of our pitching prospects. (even more upside than Homberg, before he got traded away) I agree, but that's because, at least in my mind, he is only 19 years old and is showing such great command and strike-out ability. Rienzo is really impressing me, but Heidi is doing it at such a young age, it's exciting to think of him possibly making it to the bigs around age 22.

Rienzo is really impressing me, but Heidi is doing it at such a young age, it's exciting to think of him possibly making it to the bigs around age 22. Let's not get crazy now on Heidenreich. Rookie ball numbers without some kind of track record or glowing scouting report are relatively meaningless. Hitters at that level will swing at anything, making the BB/9 a little less impressive, and hitters at that level will swing at anything, making the 6.85 K/9 completely unimpressive.
August 24, 201015 yr Heidenrich has good stuff. Nice veloc on his fastball and is considered pretty projectable. Last year during the draft I had heard some buzz from a scout on him and he raved about his "upside".

Hitters at that level will swing at anything, making the BB/9 a little less impressive, and hitters at that level will swing at anything, making the 6.85 K/9 completely unimpressive. Which is why I used such cautionary words like "think" and "possibility".

He's definitely got a ways to go, but at least he has shown a lot of progress from a year ago.
August 24, 201015 yr Heidenreich is going up to Kannapolis after his next start in Bristol. He's not happy about it, was looking forward to only having one more start left in the season ..he says his arm hurts!
August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Heidenreich is going up to Kannapolis after his next start in Bristol. He's not happy about it, was looking forward to only having one more start left in the season ..he says his arm hurts! Someone needs to sack up.
August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) Someone needs to sack up. I agree. He may not pitch like he's 19 ..but off the field ..he's still just a kid. love him to pieces though! Edited August 24, 201015 yr by girlslikebaseballtoo#26
August 24, 201015 yr I'm a little concerned about us sending a guy whose arm hurts out to start more games. Has he told anybody his arm is sore?
August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) I'm a little concerned about us sending a guy whose arm hurts out to start more games. Has he told anybody his arm is sore? I'm not certain if he has or not ..I can find out though. I'm sure they probably know ..Chase said Heidi threw an 81 mph fast ball the other day ..if it hurts so bad that he's dreading going up, I'm sure it's noticeable. You would think so anyway.

How hard does he usually throw?
August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) How hard does he usually throw? A lot harder than 81 I'm sure. He's not a knuckle-baller. This just doesn't sound good - a 19 year old's arm is hurting and he's throwing 81 mph. I sure hope he tells someone.

August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) A lot harder than 81 I'm sure. He's not a knuckle-baller. Well, obviosuly. I know there were some reports of him hitting 95 on occasion around the time of the draft but that he was usually more 88-91.
August 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) How hard does he usually throw? He usually throws in the mid to upper 80's ..I'm sure he'll be fine, probably just being a cry baby! LOL At least he gets 2 weeks of rest before instructs!!
August 25, 201015 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) I'm more concerned with his lack of enthusiasm about a promotion. Well, it's only a promotion for 1 game, so it's really not a big deal anyway. And if he is burnt out in the arm and thought he only had to push through 1 more start, then I can understand him being bummed that he has to pitch in 1 extra game.

I can see him being tired and just wanting a break, that's understandable ..but at the same time, it's just a little bit longer, suck it up Heidi and get your ass out there and play some damn baseball!
