LET'S MAKE A LIST - OCTOBER '10

Featured Replies

Glad to see Cloverfield on there. F the haters. The first hour is awesome. I know I had it pretty high up. Can't remember if I included Candyman or not.

Some movies that just missed the cut:

Ugh, I can't believe I forgot to put Shaun of the Dead on my list. Love it.

Haha, so my #1 and #4 are already off the list; and looking above my #6 (Session 9) and #8 (IT) are as well.

I listed 25 and I wouldn't be surprised if aside from the four I already know are accounted for, only two others will make the list.

The Exorcist and The Shining are the two greatest horror movies ever made...honorable mention also goes to Shadow of the Vampyre.

Is this an adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House?

Because I freaking love that book. Shirley Jackson is amazing.

Yes. The movie was made in 1963 and was really good and really scary. There was a remake which was pretty crappy. See the original. I'm apparently the only that listed it.

Slight list adjustment.

Nice, I didn't expect Jacob's Ladder to be on there. It was my #7 movie.

IMO, the movies high up on the list are the most interesting for me (even if it only takes 3/4 votes to earn a spot) because you figure the top 10 will include mostly well known titles. The horror films around here are the type of genre specific movies which appeal to some, but not most.

How the heck did the Omen did not make it?

And I hope that is for Ringu. The American Remake is much better anyways. I'm guessing it will be way up there.

Also, no Pet Semetary? Wow, I had that way up on my list and I figured it would definitely make it in. No IT is kind of shocking too.

And who considers T2 a horror movie?

Probably the same people who consider Shaun of the Dead a horror movie.

^^ I'm sure Zombieland will finish high as well, despite not being a horror in any sense.

Also, I didn't send in a list, but I'm excited to see where Swimfan finishes!

knight, can you send me my list? I lost it.

Good to see Hostel get some love.

I think Paranormal Activity should be much, much higher. It's definitely a classic, f*** the haters. Surprised it only showed up on 4 lists.

Zombieland didn't get one vote.

I considered it, but I tend to like the older stuff better.

Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead were both really good, just not horror movies in my book.

Yea, I actually wasn't sure if "Aliens" was considered a horror film. I definitely would've listed it if I had known. :( Sometimes the whole sci-fi/horror distinction can get blurry.

There's a few more.

A lot of newer, but also an older one.

Saw and The Ring, definitely two of my favorites.

I remember spending all but the last 2 minutes of the movie waiting for something to happen. I thought it pretty much sucked.

I never saw Saw.
