MEANS
interesting, thought Rios would have been a little higher. Dam Yadier Molina perfect 10's across the board.
ChiliIrishHammock24
That a boy Gerardo Parra!
chw42
Did they honestly give Jeff Francouer a +50? Ryan Raburn also doesn't seem to make much sense. Other than that, this looks like a legit list. As for Rios, he did post a +13 in DRS this year, so maybe he should have been higher.

chw42
QUOTE (gordonventura38 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Wow no love for CQ? I hope this is sarcasm.
3E8
I can understand Rios not being in the top 10. He's a good defensive center fielder, not great. His jumps and speed give him a lot of range. But his hands are just average as is his arm/accuracy
knightni
Why did Paulie not get consideration at 1B for at least 1 or 2 votes?
chw42
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Why did Paulie not get consideration at 1B for at least 1 or 2 votes? Because DRS had him as one of the worst 1B in all of baseball this year. And this voting is heavily based on DRS (which was made by John Dewan, who is one of the voters in this, along with many other proponents to that stat). It did seem like Paulie had a less than stellar year, at least by his standards. Made a few more mistakes than he typically does. But I'd still consider him above average, looking at the other 1B's in the league, and I'd even say he's had some years where he's been among the best. Defensively he isnt all that great at 1B, where he excels is in saving his fielders from throwing the ball past him. That wont win him any awards though. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Defensively he isnt all that great at 1B, where he excels is in saving his fielders from throwing the ball past him. That wont win him any awards though. Taking throws is by far the most important thing a 1B does, and he excels at that. He's also very good with throws, which a lot of 1B's aren't. And usually, he's got a great sense of the field. His only weakness, really, is his range, and he makes up for part of that with good positioning.
