December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) Or maybe PK wants to go out after a great year and not risk signing a 3 year deal and having a miserable final season? Or is content having a world series ring while amassing millions with an opportunity now to spend more time with his family.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Or is content having a world series ring while amassing millions with an opportunity now to spend more time with his family. this is my thought. I feel like Paul's already done it all with the sox, and just wants to spend time with his kids. I can't blame him for that.
December 7, 201015 yr i think PK would rather win and thats why i think he comes back to chicago just because of that reason......
December 7, 201015 yr The DBacks do have some talent on their roster. They were the team with nice draft picks and tons of prospects. Basically, they are what a lot of Soxtalk wants the Sox to be. Edited December 7, 201015 yr by Dick Allen
December 7, 201015 yr The thing is Rangers and Dbacks don't have money to give Paulie 15, heck even 12 million a year. So unless he is willing to reconsider, he will be playing in Baltimore and not spending time with his family.
December 7, 201015 yr . QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) this is my thought. I feel like Paul's already done it all with the sox, and just wants to spend time with his kids. I can't blame him for that. i wouldnt have a problem with that, but what i do have a problem with is tell KW and the sox so we can move on.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) The DBacks do have some talent on their roster. Look at last year's Padres. It doesn't take a whole lot to compete in the NL west.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) The thing is Rangers and Dbacks don't have money to give Paulie 15, heck even 12 million a year. So unless he is willing to reconsider, he will be playing in Baltimore and not spending time with his family. And you can't blame him if he takes the money. Its a few more million to leave Jr. when he dies.
December 7, 201015 yr In other news: jamie mccourt wins case and gets half #dodgers. 2 lawyers tell me ruling is right. A mess now, tho - Jon Heyman
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) In other news: jamie mccourt wins case and gets half #dodgers. 2 lawyers tell me ruling is right. A mess now, tho - Jon Heyman wow, that can be insanely ugly when trying to run an MLB team
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) wow, that can be insanely ugly when trying to run an MLB team I'm sure one of them will sell their stake and cash out.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) I am very sorry you don't believe that. They do come in the summer months. They do own a house here for the summer. They live in scottsdale as there primary residence. Your choice on what you believe. On the flip side of that?...staying in Arizona in the summer is not great shake. It's friggin brutal actually. That's why I'm ready to pack up and move since I can't afford to be a snowbird.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) I'm sure one of them will sell their stake and cash out. yeah, most likely option, but if other half can't raise stake to buy it, then you could add 3rd party, etc... just might freeze LAD for a little
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) yeah, most likely option, but if other half can't raise stake to buy it, then you could add 3rd party, etc... just might freeze LAD for a little More likely the fact that there now is an official breakdown of the ownership structure will free them up quite a bit more than where they were last year.
December 7, 201015 yr They are going to have problems trying to run it. The best solution would be to sell the Dodgers to a third party and split the proceeds. That way they can both move on. There is also a possibility of appeal, etc. Hard to tell without reading the pleadings though.
December 7, 201015 yr Dodgers manager Jim Tracy collapsed while at the meetings today and has been taken for tests.
December 7, 201015 yr hearing there is a 7-year market for cliff lee (for 20-mil plus a yr). Not the nats tho. - Jon Heyman
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Wow, Jaime McCord gets about $7.5 million a year in spousal support. Damn, makes me wanna marry Virginia McCaskey and cite some irreconcilable differences
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) I'm sure one of them will sell their stake and cash out. Or both might.

December 7, 201015 yr Rosenthal has us expressing "heavy" interest in Kerry Wood. I'd really like this move. He's got great stuff and he really turned it around with the Yanks last year. I can't see a better option for him then working with Coop and Herm.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) Dodgers manager Jim Tracy collapsed while at the meetings today and has been taken for tests. rockies manager nowadays
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (longshot7 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) McCourt She gets $7.5 million a year also.
December 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Look at last year's Padres. It doesn't take a whole lot to compete in the NL west. Seriously. The champion Giants obviously have the pitching, but their lineup for most part is just Buster Posey and a bunch of old and/or fat guys.
