Thinking about getting a puppy (or two)

blue heelers are extremely smart and loyal dogs, but some of them have that herding instinct so thoroughly bred into them that they instinctively nip your heels when they get excited.

And it f***ing hurts when a dog nips your achilles

Wow, hopefully I can someday get a more timid blue heeler that wouldn't nip at my heels, lol.

I think i might train my future dogs to put trash in the garbage. Thoughts?

Don, go to the American Kennel Club website and look up each breed. That is a great place to start. It will tell you what the dog should look and act like, as well as what they were originally bred to do and what their strengths and weaknesses are, how they do as a pet, etc.

I'm a big fan of blue heelers...really cool, smart dogs.

Thanks for the link. :)

I also have a lot of fun with watching youtube videos of various breeds of dogs, especially videos of how dogs behave in the home. :)

Pup flies in Saturday afternoon....have ordered everything I can possibly think of, including food, toys, treats, bed, crate, grooming tools, etc. He's about 23 pounds already at 9 weeks.

Ready to rock and roll...should be fun...and a challenge...oh my.

Please, for the sake of everyone else, do not be one of those people who constantly posts pictures of your dog on facebook. It's annoying as hell and comes off as very pathetic and creepy.

I'm going to get prints made and leave them on the windshield of your car.

Haha, thanks! But seriously, other people must have facebook friends who have albums of pictures of their pets. It's seriously pathetic.

Well, I don't think it's pathetic, necessarily. I already have so many people bugging me to post pictures and videos...

But yes, I agree there is definitely a line that is crossed between fun and just annoying, and this happens with peoples' kids too.

I have those too, I think its somewhat pathetic, but not as bad as people posting several other things like freakin ultrasound photos and pictures of what they cooked each night.

I find the constant status updates more pathetic. Pictures, I don't mind...at least there is a lot of interesting stuff to look through when you're bored. What I don't care about are the "...is at Dairy Queen with ..."

why is posting my sons ultrasound pathetic? I was excited, it was my firstborn

shack, post as many pics as you want. Every day if you want. Milkman posts all of his moustache pictures, so I dont think he is any position to dictate what is and what is not pathetic

;)

Having a single album where you upload a picture or two of your dog a month is fine, but I swear there are people on there with multiple albums devoted entirely to their pet. And then there are the people who have every profile picture with their dog. The latter is usually a guy who is desperately trying to come off as deep/emotional and looking for a girl.

Hey, I have all of those in one album, and it was a f***ing amazing mustache. Jealous.

Have had my pup for about 10 days now. Ran into my new neighbor with him today. She offered her babysitting services and gave me her number. Turns out she is a dancer at Spearmint Rhino.

Good dog, good dog. ;)

Just ran into her as I was walking him this morning when her cab pulled up and dropped her off from work...she ran to us and grabbed him and kept saying "you need a mommy too, you need a mommy too!"

You need to start a blog on this part of your life. Call it "Dogs and Poles".

Wow, I'm really jealous. Is she working her way through law school?

Are we still referring to the actual dog?
