June 6, 201114 yr I know JR is all about loyalty and young talent in the front office but does it really make sense that Robin would be given the job without even a couple years managing at another level?

How much managing experience does Ventura have? Has be been a bench coach? A first base coach? Anything? I'm not being a smart ass, I honestly don't know. What has he been up to since retiring and why do you guys think he'd be a good manager of a major league ball club?

I believe they picked up his option for 2012. I'm saying that the Sox will probably finish about .500 this season, so the mediocrity will surely lead to a 7-year extension.

They gave him a 1 year extension through 2012 so that if the Sox had a great season in 2011 they'd still have negotiating leverage.
