One thing that I noticed about Jackson this season, is that he lacks an "out pitch." all of his secondary pitches are able to be fouled off very easily by hitters. He does not have great stuff. he just throws hard.

Yep, we have to feel lucky about it. Have never seen him throw so many high offspeed pitches in a game.

Jackson has no out pitch but had the best k/9 of anyone on the Sox staff.

Well clearly he knows who Will Ohman is, so he's watched something.

IT's not all that odd. He's a fastball/slider guy. Think Sergio Santos.

 

If that fastball and slider are both well located in a game, then he will come out as basically unhittable. He will destroy people.

 

However, if he's missing either of those 2 pitches, either in control or in break, then he'll be a 1 pitch pitcher. That 1 pitch can still be a solid pitch, a 96 mph fastball can get you a long way through a game, but he won't dominate.

You guys don't think he'll be back for one more inning?

If you seriously are unhappy with 6 innings 2 runs out of your starting pitcher, and say that you wont miss him after a start like that, I dont even know how anyone can take the post seriously.
