I've really enjoyed watching these games with the Wimperoo. Hawk seems far more relaxed with Paciorek cracking jokes the entire game. I suppose it would get old eventually, however.

 

We need to go on a major run at this point, which is incredibly unlikely, considering we haven't won more than 5 in a row all year long. Something like 24-8 to even have a chance...

For me the combination of Hawk and Don Drysdale was the best but Hawk and Wimpy are a close second. I am not sure what it is about Stone and Hawk but I don't think they are delivering as advertised. I think Hawk is threatened by Stone because he is such a good broadcaster. Most of Hawk's color men have been submissive to him...Stone is respectful of Hawk, but not submissive...so there is often quite a bit of tension.

i am starting to get the feeling that wimpy comes back when stone is done. it really seems like hawk is enjoying the reunion.

Wimpy is still pretty funny even when sucking up. i also liked when he said the only games that he had bad games were games when they played the national anthem, lol.

Yeah, that was funny too...and when he said he ordered his bats pre-cracked off the scrap heap...

 

The two of them are just much easier to listen to because the tension is not present.

Great night last night by Danks. It is going to be a very interesting off season for him.

Had to watch it last night on the Mariner's channel, but at least I saw the win. Danks was outstanding! Sunday though is WGN

Yes this is a good point. Hawk is incredibly insecure and also has an ego the size of Alaska.

Didn't catch the game but judging by the box score this should be the part of the season where guys like Danks really step it up and put up monster numbers when it basically doesn't count anymore. This will just make his next contract even bigger.

The biggest difference that I have seen is no one recognizes his change up again. I don't know if he was flying open to quickly on it, or slowing up his delivery to give it away before, but it isn't happening now.

That's because Stone has the unmitigated gall to actually disagree with the Hawk occasionally, however subtly. Hawk's happy 'cause he knows the Wimperoo would never consider such an indiscretion.

You guys are watching different games than I watch.

I think Stoney and Hawk are great together.

I think I heard one night Hawk sounded like he was in a bad mood and jumped Stoney for something. If Hawk worked with Wimpy every night I'm sure there would be nights people thought there was tension between those 2.

Hawk says he's bad when he gets the change up in the zone and good when he gets it down. Last night he was in the bottom of the zone with all his pitches and his cutter was really moving.

On this one, he's right. When D1 has good control on that changeup there's almost no one who can beat him, when he can't throw the change effectively he's a mediocre fastball pitcher.

If he was coming open to quickly that means he isn't following through, which is how you hang any off speed pitch.
