September 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Yeah. Those 50 plate appearances tell you the whole story. I thought it was his fielding that got rid of him.
September 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) It's a legitimate question. On one side of the coin are those who say Ozzie has created an environment of complete "non-accountability." So we are to believe the players fought back "just enough" to keep their manager in his position but not enough to win th division? If the entire clubhouse just went completely south...wouldn't we have seen some type of "death spiral" down to 20-25 games below .500, as has happened two times with the Twins this year? Speaking of accountability...Gardenhire b****ed all season about the call ups not knowing the fundamentals. The Twins just fired some of their AAA coaches.
September 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Speaking of accountability...Gardenhire b****ed all season about the call ups not knowing the fundamentals. The Twins just fired some of their AAA coaches. That's a stretch. They are supposed to learn fundamentals when they get to AAA?
September 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) I thought it was his fielding that got rid of him. You might have tolerated that if he'd hit 6 HR in his first 50 PA's, but you're right. He couldn't field at all. It's just ridiculous to use those 50 PA's as somehow an indictment of anything.
September 15, 201114 yr But didn't Betemit also lead the entire major leagues in spring training home runs before that season started? Doesn't Walker get some credit for ST stats, lol? Heck, Josh Fields looked good that spring as well, if I remember correctly.
September 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 06:15 AM) That's a stretch. They are supposed to learn fundamentals when they get to AAA? They are suppose to learn them in ST in the Sox organization.
