There's still some trouble though...you also can believe that Paul Konerko might finally start showing his age, AJ Pierzynski could have a more 2010 like season, Mark Buehrle could either not return or not have the caliber of season he just had, John Danks and Carlos Quentin could be traded, Phil Humber might not carry this team for 2 months, Santos could fail to repeat his success this year.

 

Not all of those will happen, but a number of them are somewhat likely.

I'm just thinking best case, which means "on paper" they shouldn't be bad, just like "on paper" they shouldn't have been this bad this year.

 

I see no point in trading Q, at least not until the deadline. His value was the highest it would ever be this past July, so you might as well hope for a stacked OF next year with him and DV on the corners.

 

I also believe Dunn will come around to 35hr/100rbi next year and pray to god Beckham remembers how to hit. GB/Q/PK/Dun/DV as the heart of your lineup all at their career norms would be scary I think.

The comment aside, which smacks of a lack of personal accountability, does not really take away from the fact that KW apparently built a contender going into this season. On the field, they certainly did not compete, but I don't see how you can blame the problems of 2011 on him.

The way we are finishing the season with a 4-11 record I think in our last 15, don't you agree we will lose 90-95 games next year w/out changes?

I think it's a longshot that we contend next year and if we do it will only be for 2012 and we'll have to pay for it big time in 2013. Long-term solutions need to be found for that rotation beginning this offseason
