I hope Super Joe sticks around. He was really the only bright spot of the entire coaching staff for me. It would figure St. Louis might snag him.

I'm not joking. This team has lacked core fundamentals coming out of camp each year.

 

That's what I feel like. Guillen expected certain players to be able to do certain things, and every year many of them came out of spring training unable to them. Whether it be bunting, stealing, hit and running etc, either Guillen couldn't teach, or he couldn't recognize that certain guys didn't have the skills to learn what he was teaching.

 

I am really interested to see what spring training looks like, and what the team does coming out of the gate.

Maybe we can get Larussa in here as the 3rd base coach. He has some experience.

The sox have definitely looked bad coming out of ST the past few years. That's one thing that upset people about Ozzie. There's a difference between having faith in a player and giving him a few chances compared to making them do it every time and setting them up for failure.

 

Even Hawk has always said that a good manager doesn't make players do something they can't do.

McEwing is the one guy I am most excited about on the staff. He has had great reviews from everyone who played for him.

 

 

Makes one wonder why the Sox didn't hire him over Ventura.

From what TLR said later, it sounded like it wasn't something that would happen. Tony sounded more interested in being somewhere starting over.

I guess the word "professional" is a very loose term in MLB these days.

I'm questioning TLR's understanding of the english language if "set up" was the phrase he used to describe the White Sox. Would go hand in hand with his version of the alphabet, actually.

 

I'll read into that as he doesn't like what is currently in place at the front office. Maybe if things don't go so well for KW in the next year or two, he'd come in play the role of "baseball guy to watch the baseball guy" (and pick his own staff).
