December 8, 201114 yr Now, most of the big name pitching has been moved. Let's talk about what teams might be after Danks, Floyd and Thornton. It looks to me like Boston, Yankees, Baltimore, Texas and Nationals are pretty much the teams to deal with. Red Sox need the most pitching help in the rotation and the pen. Yanks could also use both but not as much. Baltimore has always wanted Floyd. Texas, we know, wants Danks back. The Nationals need a starter. There are other teams out there that will likely be interested in an elite LH set-up man for only a $ 12 mil. investment. If the Sox are truly rebuilding now then I don't see why they would keep Thornton and Danks past the winter. Danks is in demand and the return only drops once the season starts. He clearly isn't going to re-sign with the Sox so logic says...trade now. Thornton is not needed on a team that is going nowhere and the salary relief is much needed. They should be able to get a good prospect for him. How good remains debatable. Still, no reason to keep. Gavin is under control for 2 more years so the Sox might want to keep him for this year so the team isn't guaranteed last place without him and Danks. Also, it would give the young guys another year to develop. I would hold onto him 1 more year. Of course, all depends on the offers the Sox get. Any mystery teams not listed here? Does anybody think that the Sox keep all 3 of these guys? Or, even 2?

December 8, 201114 yr The D'backs and Rockies are also going hard after pitching. If Seattle signs Fielder they will be looking for another SP between Felix and Pineda. Pitchers available in a trade now - James Shields Matt Garza Jair Jurrjens Ervin Santana Gio Gonzalez Trevor Cahill John Danks Jon Niese Gavin Floyd -edit to add Jurrjens, forgot he was on the block too Edited December 8, 201114 yr by IowaSoxFan

Pitchers available in a trade now - James Shields Matt Garza Ervin Santana Gio Gonzalez Trevor Cahill John Danks Jon Niese Gavin Floyd Seattle would be stupid IMO to ink the Prince. I don't think they are 1-2 players away from the playoffs. ESP after what LAA did, and the Rangers are still players as well. I think the Rangers go hard after one of those pitchers, after today's news.
December 8, 201114 yr Scratch the nationals off of that list. Unless they offer Bryce Harper, Kenny is going to give them a hardy f*** you.

Not sure he is in a position to do that, the Nats may match up with the Sox better than most other teams due to the amount of pitching in their system.

QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) You sure Kenny wouldn't want Strasburg(sp) to be included as well? After what went down at the 09 deadline, no way Kenny is dealing with Rizzo unless it is a complete screw job.
December 8, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) After what went down at the 10 deadline, no way Kenny is dealing with Rizzo unless it is a complete screw job.
December 8, 201114 yr After what went down at the 09 deadline, no way Kenny is dealing with Rizzo unless it is a complete screw job. Is this the Dunn for Beckham deal? I didn't read the full details.. can you please explain.
December 8, 201114 yr Yeah the '10 deal. Point stays the same. Kenny is not on terms with Rizzo like he is with most everyone else.
December 8, 201114 yr Few more pitchers to add to the list, of who might be moved this off season Carl Pavano Franciscio Liriano Fausto Carmona Wandy Rodriguez Jeremy Guthrie Also some reports has King Felix on the market Edited December 8, 201114 yr by SOXOBAMA
December 8, 201114 yr QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Hellickson is also on the trade market Yeah, I don't believe that for a second.
December 8, 201114 yr Yeah, I don't believe that for a second. Reports out of Tampa Bay today says that Rays are open minded to trading Hellickson
December 8, 201114 yr QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Reports out of Tampa Bay today says that Rays are open minded to trading Hellickson Again, I don't believe it at all. That's simply not the way Tampa operates.
December 8, 201114 yr Again, I don't believe it at all. That's simply not the way Tampa operates. Also, Jon Heyman is reporting it as well.. I don't believe that the Rays will trade him

December 8, 201114 yr AJ is also on the market. Does the Marlins need a C? My wife would kill KW, if they move him.. of course she doesn't get the dynamics of the business side of things.
December 8, 201114 yr Pretty sure he's talking about Burnett. Gotcha, that would make a ton of sense since Burnett is a pitcher.. Stupid me.
