Flowers is 0-8 with 5K vs RHP this year. When AJP is brought back this offseason, Flowers has no one to blame but himself, as he never made any adjustments to what MLB pitchers are doing against him. Just like with Morel, there has to be serious doubts as to whether or not he's capable of starting in the majors.

He's not. This has been another edition of easy answers to simple questions.

I think we can all agree it would be great if Phegley can surpass Flowers on the organizational depth chart. Kinda crazy how terrible Flowers/Lillibridge/Gilmore have been this year.

There has to be serious consideration now being given to jumping Phegley over Flowers for 2013, or even 2012 after a possible AJ salary dump.

Hopefully Phegley can keep this up and stay healthy.

If Phegley hits .300+ this year in Charlotte he'll probably get at least 200 AB next year. And Flowers will be all but done.

We knew what we were getting with Flowers, he wasn't necessarily tearing the cover off the ball in the minors.

Wait, what? He was killing the ball. Hell, his first and only year in Bham his OPS was .993.

Fine, his first year in AAA was pretty bad, he looked decent overall in the minors.

Flowers seems to be the case of "big big swing, needs to play nearly every game, will strike out 150-175 times, will give you 18-20 homers" guys. Sort of the catching equivalent of Brian Anderson. Except at some point when he's hitting .170 or .180, they'll pull the plug on that experiment, too.

Whether it's worth a .200 average and half of Dunn's production for less walks to get Flowers' defense in the game over Phegley, guess we'll find out.

I've been thinking that since spring training. Hopefully the Sox start thinking this way. There also should be serious consideration to letting Fukodome go. Talk about washed up!

Sounds like J.P. Arencibia

For some reason that's the exact idea I've had of him, I think most of the posters were pretty down on him last few years, but his minor league splits don't look half bad. thanks to poster above for pointing it out.

Hopefully Stults has enough juice left to get the game through the 6th or a batter or two into the 7th.

Pretty amazing what both Quintana and Eric have done today. Now, about our offense....or lack thereof.

For sure. Let's get some runs and get Stults a well-deserved WIN.

What is his talent? Seriously?

He doesn't steal bases. He doesn't hit home runs. He isn't a balls-out hustler to whack a ton of doubles or trips. He is Mr. Casual in the outfield to the point we've almost had several collisions between he and cf and he and Beckham. Check the highlights. He doesn't call guys off the ball. He'd rather almost run into them.

Where is this Rios talent? What am I missing from his career numbers? He's grossly overpaid ballplayer who at times is decent.

(to his credit, he helped win a game or two in April with a clutch hit or two).

My god, yes he was terrible last year, but go back just 2 years ago and you'll see he hit was a 20/30 guy who nearly scored and drove in 90 each..that coming off a down year.....oh and man greg this stultz guy is givin us no chance of winning this game, good call on that auto sweep.
