He did throw a curve. 3-2. Was fouled off. Plus he doesn't call the pitches.

Hawk errantly called that a curve, it was clearly a changeup breaking in on Brendan Ryan

It wasn't a curve.

It was something like a cutter/slider/spinner, but it most definitely wasn't a curveball.

Really hard to call Stewart's pitches because almost all of them are 82-89 MPH these days.

Funny hearing Hawk say Seaman.

Hahahahah f***in Hawk

And awesome Hector!

And I like that we get Ichiro out of the way and he's not leading off next inning...Zach's suckiness actually works out there.

I agree with you...

Stewart's better in games where hitters might not be as patient (ie...long man when team is trailing by a lot).

Let's get some more runs!!!!

I think that might be my FAVORITE Hawk quote of all time.

Not only did he say SEAMEN, but he said SACKS packed with Seaman.

Truly, it's the sacks part in combination with the word Seaman that has me going. I can't stop laughing.

if not for the game in Wrigley he'd have an era under 3...and Ill say it again, he's the long man...youre not gonna find a bullpen in baseball that has a great long man

I should pay less attention to this thread and more to the game.

still doesn't call the pitches.

Zach Stewart has a good sinker and a good changeup. Mix in a breaking ball and consistent command (he's been fairly good in this area, really) and he should be an innings-eater starter

We will agree to disagree...............Stewart is a dime a dozen pitcher.

Brendan Ryan with a Uribe-esque flat footed throw

Quintana would still be more effective as the long man, but perhaps he's going to have to go down to BIRM/CHAR and continue starting as our primary insurance policy.

We don't want Stewart as our 5th, that's for sure.

SHOULD being the key word of that sentence.

26,200! I was way off.

A lot of people cast off 25 year olds like Zach Stewart and regret it later

You still have to wonder what happened to his fastball velocity, as well as what would happen if he tried to start. His offspeed pitches are extremely below average, so a long man is definitely his role for the time being.

Rough couple days for Dayan

Rough couple days for Dayan

Mariners have him lunging to cover the outer half. Fukudome will probably get a start in LF tomorrow.
