cabiness42
Currently, Sox pitching is 2nd in AL in WHIP, 4th in (fewest) BB, 4th in K/BB, and 5th in K/9, yet 7th in (fewest) runs allowed. Is there anything to this, or am I just trying too hard to see the glass as half full?
hogan873
Well, it's hard not to think that the pitchers are not getting adequate run support when our best pitcher gets one freaking run in his last two starts.
cabiness42
Yes, run support is an issue also, but what I'm saying is that the pitchers' stats seem to suggest that they're pitching better than what the number of runs allowed is showing. southsider2k5
The Sox had no luck last night. Think of the inning where the Cubs got their two runs. They had an error and then a ball skip off of the pitchers foot turn into runs, versus the Sox having plays like Castro's catch off of Alexei, and Darwin Barney's play against AJ. Quin
Home runs do that.
ewokpelts
no. they just have a s***ty offense behind them. unless you're humber or floyd, and you too are s***ty.
hogan873
Well, I guess I see where you are coming from. Sorry, I mis-understood it at first. But, 7th fewest runs allowed still isn't too bad. I suppose you could expect it to be a bit better based on the other stats. However, are there some stats that hide the fact that Floyd and Humber have been pretty bad lately? Didn't both of them have high strikeout totals in games where they gave up a lot of runs? Plus, is the awesomeness of Peavy and Sale being overshadowed by the bad outings of their teammates?
