“The 78” is Dead Part XIV, Viva La Canal's Edge!
most teams experience a sales increase after a WS win. that part is obvious. the removal of a major superhighway also changes behavior patterns. i don't even want to imagine how much of a disaster getting to and from games in 06/07 was if you lived south and southwest of the park(I lived in the city and had the streets).

do you have a head injury? 2006 WS attendance with NO DAN RYAN EXPRESSWAY - 2.9 million 2007 WS attendance with NO DAN RYAN EXPRESSWAY - 2.6 million. Imagine that post championship bubble with a major superhighway open next to it. The site has issues, but is not the death sentence you claim it is. The 78, however, will piss off a ton of people that drive to games.

Resilient White Sox/AL Central Attendance, somehow up 1.8% YoY for first 21 home dates
That was their playoff window. The NL central had the three best teams in baseball in 2015. They lost to the 97 win cubs that year in the wild card game.

The 78 at one point was proposed as an actual neighborhood, complete with a mix of (very expensive) single family homes and condos/townhomes. what happened? oh I know what, massive environmental cleanup costs for residential, hence the pivot to sports venues. Not a skate park

I figure this is the case. The number of times both facilities would be used at the same time is low. The reality is that both facilities use the same Infrastructure and resources like parking and mass transit which make them complementary to each other instead of competition.

The city is NOT going to dollar lot the 35th street site. Mainly because they don’t own it ISFA does the likelihood is that the stadium is repurposed for music or soccer and they attract the red stars there with cheap rent. Followed by redeveloping the lots to the south for housing Dollar lots! Jesus Christ!

What residents?! The 78 is a landlocked parcel surrounded by water and rail! as for the rock island, you need it at 15th to justify the spending for the Cta station. The more agencies the better chance it gets built.

The bears rent check is to ISFA, not the city or the park district.

The idea floated around is a transit center at 15th and Clark with access to both the metra and red line.
