KW whining about (OK bringing up) attendance again

SS2K5, Apples and Oranges here. I am not in the business of buying or searching for Gold Coast condos to improve a business. KW has direct business responsiblity to spend the money he is given to put out a decent product with decent results. We are responsible as consumers to either accept the value of the product or reject it. That is simple business as I see it. He is accountable to JR as the owner of the business and is equally accountable to his customers, the fans.

Which he is exactly what he is doing. You are limited by your resources at your job, just like Kenny Williams is.

The attendance thing at this point is just lazy reporting. Local media knows the meatball fans will eat this crap up. Instead of asking better questions and actually educating a few fans, they take the easy way out.

Have to disagree on this point. He isn't limited by the resources he was given. He is limited by the poor choices he has made with the resources he has been given, thus wasting them and producing a less than acceptable product.

You have valid points about JR busting out the check book but the quality of the product doesn't strictly rely on Peavy, Rios, and Dunn. I could also add that the three prior to this year have not really been a factor in the team's success due to their contributions. It's the overall approach KW takes as a GM that hasn't lived up to expectations. And 1st place? We've seen this up and down (2011 was totally down) set of results in 2010 and this year. Sorry but the product ain't gettin it done.

I believe the product is getting it done. What were we projected to finish in our division by most....like 4th?

We have had 3 holes in the pitching staff (now 2 thanks to Q) from the beginning of the season & we are only a half game out.

Sounds like they are battling & getting the job done to me.

Is It the meatball fans fault KW claimed Rios terrible contract off waivers handcuffing the Sox LIMITED resources even more? No that is on KW! KW cannot have it both ways.

Attendance is a non issue. If it were important, the Sox wouldn't be charging $90 for bleacher seats against one of the worst teams in baseball.

Tue, 6/19 Cubs L 1-2 35-33 Wood (1-3) Peavy (6-3)

I don't call that battling, I see a lot of losing RISP opportunites and goose eggs even during winning streak. Something is not consistant here.

That isn't true at all this year. Those choices are producing this year.

In case you hadn't noticed, Rios is having a pretty good season.

Are you going to justify the Rios contract? Terrible contract no matter what he is doing currently.

Lower box in the corner is only $105 right now on the Sox website. Gee, I wonder why they don't sell out? There's no doubt there has been some Sox fan apathy, but its a 2 way street. The Sox have been one of the top 4 or 5 priced tickets in MLB for several years and their new system makes buying tickets during the season even more expensive. Its really a remarkable way to try to cure your attendance "problem".

You are the one saying he is the problem here, when he clearly isn't. This isn't 2011 anymore. Things have changed. Quit recycling the same old stuff.

I know last year, the Sox had the 4th highest tickets in baseball, behind NYY, BOS, & Cubs. It's funny how that is never mentioned when attendance is brought up. A fanbase that has proven to be fair weather has to deal with expensive tickets.

The product on the field? Lmao we have been in first place.

Hahahaha that's one lame excuse for not showing up.

Seriously.

This new system has made tickets way more expensive although they could probably say "officially" ticket prices went down or remained the same.

Recycle what, payroll is maxed out so says KW. Rios deal is a HUGE part of it and will be 2 more years at best.

04/04/08: Signed seven-year, $69.835 million contract w/ 2015 club option and full NTC 2008-09, limited NTC 2011-15. 2011: $12.0 million, 2012: $12.0 million, 2013: $12.5 million, 2014: $12.5 million, 2015: $13.5 million club option w/ $1 million buyout, 2016: Free Agent

Here is a little secret, we wouldn't be anywhere near first place without him, and someone like John Danks out there. Attendance would most likely be worse if Rios wasn't on this team because we would be significantly further out of first place.

I agree, this team would be significantly worse if John Danks was the starting RF.

(I think that's the 2nd time I've caught you on this one ;) )

Who says it is Danks out there? Without Rios contract from day one who knows who Sox could of got through trade or free agency. This is not just about 2012.

It is, because you are complaining about attendance today.

So the Sox won't have the cash to bring in Youk. There goes the playoffs.

Like you saying he has limited resources. The reason why he blew it.

in short , kenny should b**** at brooks and the ticket department for dynamic pricing. expensive, UNSOLD tickets is worse than cheap but SOLD tickets.

The question should be has KW maxed out the talent level with the resources provided?I think the obvious answer is no.

Even Wrigley Field isn't filling up anymore. The attendance arguments are just plain lazy.

That's good news. A reason to keep attendance low.
